Mobile Mammovan to make stops in Carson City, Virginia City and Yerington

The mobile Mammovan aims to make mammography services accessible and convenient for women by visiting locations across Nevada. These screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older; however, screenings will be provided to those younger than 40 that have a physician referral.

Lyon County Commissioners approve jail change order

Lyon County officials hope a set of remedies approved by the county commission will bring that to an end.

NV Energy reports widespread power outages in Carson City due to high winds

Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 21-27

Carson Street off-ramp. There will be nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. beginning Sunday evening through Wednesday morning.
Polar Express passengers safe after engine breaks down in Lyon County; train resumes Saturday on regular schedule

UPDATE 11:05PM: All passengers, including Santa Claus and helpers, have been safely removed from the disabled V&T train Friday night and were taken by shuttle buses to the Carson City depot. The train stalled north of Linehan Road in Lyon County. Carson City dispatch received the call at 9:20pm that the train was disabled with more than 240 passengers. There were no injuries and the passengers were in good spirits, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
A diesel engine pushed the disabled train and passenger cars back to the Carson City depot.
Carson City area road report: December 14 to 20

In addition, Third Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Carson and Curry Streets for a brief time period. Detours will be signed.

Fred Nietz, businessman and Carson City community events organizer, dies

Bay Area plastics company to relocate to Dayton; will add jobs to Northern Nevada region

Peterson Products will move its production facility and headquarters from Belmont, Calif., to Lyon County. The company recently leased a building and plans to create up to 70 jobs in Northern Nevada and adding another manufacturer to the region.
