Carson City area road report: December 14 to 20

Beginning Monday, December 14, there will be intermittent lane closures on Carson Street throughout the week due to utility work as part of the Downtown Carson project.  In addition, Third Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Carson and Curry Streets for a brief time period.  Detours will be signed.
 
Lane closures with two-way traffic maintained are expected at the following locations due to utility work:
· The outside northbound lane on Roop Street between Winnie Lane and Beverly Drive and the westbound lane on Winnie Lane just west of Lone Mountain Drive from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Monday).
· Morgan Mill Road between Deer Run Road and Empire Ranch Road (Tuesday).
· The southbound lane on Cochise Street between Roventini Way and Overland Street (Monday-Wednesday).
· Mountain Street between Musser Street and Caroline Street (Monday-Friday).
· Shoulder work only on the west side of Conte Drive just north of Bennett Avenue (Wednesday).
 
NDOT will continue work on the construction of an auxiliary lane on southbound I-580 from the Eastlake Boulevard interchange to the N. Carson Street off-ramp.  There will be nightly lane closures from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. beginning Sunday evening through Friday morning. 
 
Utility work will continue Monday through Friday as indicated below, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with possible flagger controlled traffic at the following locations:
· Division Street between John Street and Long Street.  Road will be closed Monday through Friday.
· Mountain Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
· Fleischmann Way between Mountain Street and Division Street.
· Long Street between Mountain Street and Division Street.
· Sierra Circle, Hillside Way, Miller Way, Pine View Way, and Lane Circle.
 
The following closures will occur with signed detours due to the construction of the East/West Water Transmission Project:
· Washington Street will be closed to traffic between Stewart and Plaza Streets Monday and Tuesday.
· Washington Street will be closed to traffic between Carson and Plaza Streets Tuesday through Thursday.
· Carson Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between William and Robinson Streets Thursday and Friday.
 
On Friday, December 18, there will be a super load transport with pilot car escorts during the daytime hours along the following route: from Douglas County northbound on US 395/Carson Street, to northbound Stewart Street, to eastbound Fifth Street, to northbound Airport Road, to eastbound Butti Way, to northbound Fairview Drive, to eastbound US 50 into Lyon County.

On August 19, 2024 the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division, Major Crimes Unit identified 27 year old Reno, NV resident Thomas James Wilson as one of the two outstanding suspects in the armed robbery in Stagecoach, NV that occurred on August 17, 2024.

On Wednesday, at around 2:10 a.m., Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a male who arrived at the Carson Tahoe Hospital after being shot in the leg. Deputies located the crime scene in the 3400 block of Champion Drive in East Carson City.
