Bay Area plastics company to relocate to Dayton; will add jobs to Northern Nevada region
A Bay Area plastic manufacturer will relocate to Dayton with plans to create up to 70 jobs, the Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Tuesday.
Peterson Products will move its production facility and headquarters from Belmont, Calif., to Lyon County. The company recently leased a building and plans to create up to 70 jobs in Northern Nevada and adding another manufacturer to the region.
“Northern Nevada has a quality of life that is simply unachievable in the Bay Area between the high cost, congestion and crime,” said Todd Peterson, owner and president of Peterson Products in a news release. “We were one of the last manufacturers in our area and we were facing an unknown countdown so it was time to make a move. I chose Nevada because the regulatory environment and labor market are much better. NNDA was there throughout the process and helped to guide us through every step.”
Peterson Products is a family owned, reinforced plastic composite manufacturer that has been in business for over 72 years. The company specializes in polyester laminates, epoxy laminates, phenolic laminates, carbon fiber laminates, and aramid laminates and can create custom molds and patterns to meet virtually any need, the news release states. Peterson Products supplies parts to many different industries including the transportation, electronics, architectural, marine, entertainment and medical industries. Peterson Products works with clients throughout the design phase to ensure the best possible end result.
Peterson Products prides itself in being a great place to work and provides benefits to their entire workforce. The company currently has 30 employees that have been with the firm 20 years or more and expects around 30 of its current employees to move with the company. Peterson Products will be hiring up to 40 employees locally including mostly manufacturing positions and looks to begin production December 1, 2015.
“Peterson Products is another great addition to the Sierra Region,” said Robert Hooper, Executive Director of Northern Nevada Development Authority. “Every manufacturer that comes to our area increases our industrial capabilities as a region and really works well to complement the existing businesses in the area. Peterson Products has a wide product offering across many different industries. We’re happy to have them here in Nevada.”
NNDA began working with Peterson Products in June of 2015. A special thanks goes to Chad Coons of Gillmor Coons Real Estate Group for referring Peterson Products to NNDA and for being the lead Broker on this project, according to the news release. Recognition also goes to Lyon County, NV Energy and Miles Construction for their help and support with this project.
