Central Lyon County Fire Protection District was called to the 5000 block of Pawnee in Stagecoach at 10:59 a.m. for a structure fire. Upon arrival units observed multiple out buildings and one residential structure on fire.

Carson City weather: Gusty winds prompt Red Flag Warning, firefighters on high alert

A small, smoldering campfire was discovered by firefighters at around noon doing a smoke investigation north of Carson City, according to dispatch. A small brush fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m. in the Silver Springs area, according to the Central Lyon County Fire District.

Carson City arrests: Man jailed on suspicion of child abuse, being a felon with a stun gun
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/21/2016 - 2:32pmUPDATE THURSDAY: Joseph Andrew Crump was arraigned Thursday in a Carson City courtroom. He was arraigned on suspicion of domestic battery first offense, being an ex-felon in possession of a stun gun, and being an ex-felon failing to register.
The District Attorney's Office hasn't concluded its investigation of felony child abuse, in which Crump was also arrested on suspicion. The matter remains under investigation. His bail remains at $40,000.

Carson City, Lyon County firefighters called to dump truck fire near Mound House
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/21/2016 - 6:23amCarson City firefighters were called to an off-road area near Mound House and the V&T Railroad bridge Tuesday morning for a dump truck that was on fire.
Units were called to the scene at around 7 a.m. and were able to get water and extinguish the fire located in the truck bed. The dump truck is believed to be stolen.

Carson City deputy DA Orrin Johnson named among 2016 legal elite by business magazine

Johnson, 39, has been a prosecutor in Carson City since October, 2015. A veteran of the United States Navy, Johnson was a Senior Deputy District Attorney in Lyon County before joining Woodbury’s office. Previously, Johnson served as a Deputy Public Defender in Washoe County.
Second at-large suspect in Carson City residential burglary now in custody

Cody Rogers-Shaw was found hiding in a yard in the 1600 block of Marian Street in Carson City at around 11:20 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

Suspect in Carson City residential burglary arrested, second suspect remains at large

Missing Dayton woman found dead, suspect in custody
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 05/18/2016 - 10:06amUPDATE: The body of a missing Dayton area woman was found Tuesday in a remote canyon and a suspect, the woman's brother-in-law, is in custody on suspicion of murder, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
In cooperation with the Nevada Division of Investigations and with the assistance of the Washoe County Crime Lab, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested James Hamrick, 55, of Dayton in connection with the death of Davis. He is the brother-in-law of Davis, a Lyon County Sheriff's Office investigator confirmed.
Hamrick is being held at the Lyon County Detention Center in Yerington and charged with open murder and is being held without bail.

Lyon County detectives release photos, suspect foul play in missing Dayton woman case

A search warrant was executed and several items of evidence has been seized this week from the residence of Toni Davis, 60, who has been missing since April 28. A forensics analysis is currently underway.
Snow plows used to remove hail in Mound House, Dayton Valley area
Submitted by editor on Thu, 05/05/2016 - 3:15pmLyon County Public Works crews were busy Thursday afternoon with snow plows to remove several inches of hail that accumulated on the roads. These pictures were taken by a plow crew off of Linehan Road in Mound House. Hail accumulation was also reported at Dayton Valley Ranches east of Dayton.
Some people have reported via social media, minor damage. One resident, Laura Tennant said the hail "tore thousands of leaves off the trees."
Lyon County Manager Jeff Page noted that he's not seen anything like this kind of hail accumulation in his 30 years in the county.

Toni Davis, 60, has been missing since April 28. She is from the Mark Twain area. She is caucasian, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 to 170 pounds; has hazel eyes, brown/gray hair. She has a tattoo of Betty Boop above her right posterior.
