A 44-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Monday on a felony warrant, failure to appear, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

YERINGTON, Nev. (AP) — A state official says soil samples haven't turned up risky chemicals or hazardous materials where a liquid was poured into the ground on a video appearing to show employees of a Lyon County foundry dumping barrels of industrial waste.

A fire Saturday morning has destroyed several structures and burned 1.5 acres of vegetation east of Dayton in Stagecoach.

Central Lyon County Fire Protection District was called to the 5000 block of Pawnee in Stagecoach at 10:59 a.m. for a structure fire. Upon arrival units observed multiple out buildings and one residential structure on fire.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is working in conjunction with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Carson City Sheriff’s Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department who are all aligned with Joining Forces to boost enforcement efforts.

A new partnership between Western Nevada College and Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America can lead to job opportunities at the Gigafactory in Northern Nevada.

Those interested need to enroll in two advanced manufacturing training classes to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for employment by Northern Nevada manufacturers such as Panasonic and Tesla Motors.

A small, smoldering campfire was discovered by firefighters at around noon doing a smoke investigation north of Carson City, according to dispatch. A small brush fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m. in the Silver Springs area, according to the Central Lyon County Fire District.

UPDATE THURSDAY: Joseph Andrew Crump was arraigned Thursday in a Carson City courtroom. He was arraigned on suspicion of domestic battery first offense, being an ex-felon in possession of a stun gun, and being an ex-felon failing to register.
The District Attorney's Office hasn't concluded its investigation of felony child abuse, in which Crump was also arrested on suspicion. The matter remains under investigation. His bail remains at $40,000.

A 36-year-old Carson City man faces multiple charges including felony child abuse, being a felon in possession of a stun gun, domestic battery and being an ex-felon failing to register, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City firefighters were called to an off-road area near Mound House and the V&T Railroad bridge Tuesday morning for a dump truck that was on fire.

Units were called to the scene at around 7 a.m. and were able to get water and extinguish the fire located in the truck bed. The dump truck is believed to be stolen.

A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly stealing a green dolly from Tractor Supply Company, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury announced Tuesday that Deputy District Attorney Orrin Johnson has been named to Nevada Business Magazine’s 2016 Legal Elite.

Johnson, 39, has been a prosecutor in Carson City since October, 2015. A veteran of the United States Navy, Johnson was a Senior Deputy District Attorney in Lyon County before joining Woodbury’s office. Previously, Johnson served as a Deputy Public Defender in Washoe County.

The second suspect connected with a residential burglary that happened last month was arrested Thursday, a Carson City sheriff’s lieutenant said.

Cody Rogers-Shaw was found hiding in a yard in the 1600 block of Marian Street in Carson City at around 11:20 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

A 22-year-old Dayton man, wanted in connection with a May 20 residential burglary in Carson City, was arrested Friday in Lyon County and brought back to Carson City where he was booked, a sheriff's deputy said.

Operation Vigilance, a multi-agency collaborative effort to verify sex offender registration compliance, recently conducted a two-day compliance check of 315 sex offenders in Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Washoe and Lyon county areas.

To the casual observer, the plot of land between Rifle Road and Highway 50, just over the Carson City border into Lyon County, looks like any other Nevada desert scene. Sagebrush scattered with juniper trees under a wide, blue sky, surrounded by mountains.

UPDATE: The body of a missing Dayton area woman was found Tuesday in a remote canyon and a suspect, the woman's brother-in-law, is in custody on suspicion of murder, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

In cooperation with the Nevada Division of Investigations and with the assistance of the Washoe County Crime Lab, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested James Hamrick, 55, of Dayton in connection with the death of Davis. He is the brother-in-law of Davis, a Lyon County Sheriff's Office investigator confirmed.

Hamrick is being held at the Lyon County Detention Center in Yerington and charged with open murder and is being held without bail.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a single vehicle on a dirt road near Mound House just north of Carson City that was discovered Thursday morning.

Ryan Daniel Smith of Carson City, Dr. Robert Rand of Reno, and seven others were indicted by a federal grand jury on felony drug conspiracy and other charges, the office for the U.S. Attorney announced Wednesday.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office detectives searching for the whereabouts of a missing Dayton area woman now believe there was foul play involved in her disappearance.

A search warrant was executed and several items of evidence has been seized this week from the residence of Toni Davis, 60, who has been missing since April 28. A forensics analysis is currently underway.

Lyon County Public Works crews were busy Thursday afternoon with snow plows to remove several inches of hail that accumulated on the roads. These pictures were taken by a plow crew off of Linehan Road in Mound House. Hail accumulation was also reported at Dayton Valley Ranches east of Dayton.

Some people have reported via social media, minor damage. One resident, Laura Tennant said the hail "tore thousands of leaves off the trees."

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page noted that he's not seen anything like this kind of hail accumulation in his 30 years in the county.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a woman who has been missing from the Dayton area since late last month.

Toni Davis, 60, has been missing since April 28. She is from the Mark Twain area. She is caucasian, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 to 170 pounds; has hazel eyes, brown/gray hair. She has a tattoo of Betty Boop above her right posterior.

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:40 a.m. in the 400 block of West Winnie Lane on charges of misdemeanor first offense domestic battery, misdemeanor destruction of property, and misdemeanor resisting arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

In celebration of Historic Preservation Month, the Carson City Historic Resources Commission will hold its 7th annual Historic Preservation Scavenger Hunt beginning Monday and running through May 31.
