Carson City deputies locate stolen vehicle and suspect within minutes of crime being reported

A 33-year-old man was taken into custody Monday afternoon within minutes of being stopped after Carson City sheriff's officers were alerted that a vehicle was reported stolen from a gas station.

Thomas Brown, listed as a transient, was arrested for suspicion of felony possession of a stolen vehicle and misdemeanor violations of conditions warrant issued Dec. 3, out of Carson City Justice Court.

The vehicle, a black PT Cruiser, was reported stolen at 2:22 p.m. from a South Carson Street gas station. The suspect apparently jumped into the vehicle and took off after its owner went inside the business to make a delivery and left the vehicle unlocked and running, the arrest report states.

The victim called 911 and reported their vehicle had been stolen and gave a description of the P.T. Cruiser and suspect.

Undersheriff Jerome Tushbant spotted the stolen vehicle within a minute or so after an alert was issued by Carson City dispatch. He followed the vehicle to the area of Frontage Road south of Sonoma Street and was met by other CCSO patrol deputies. The suspect was stopped, detained and taken into custody at 2:30 p.m. all less than 10 minutes. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
Three were booked Dec. 17, at 11:58 p.m. in the area of State and William streets for alleged drug related crimes following a traffic stop.

Those arrested were Tyler Wood, 32, for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, approximately .3 gram heroin, gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a parole and probation violation. He's being held without bail for the parole and probation violation.

Also arrested was Tyler Roth, 28, for suspicion of possession of 5.8 grams of heroin, 1.6 grams of methamphetamine, attempting to use another person's identification to avoid prosecution, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $6,137.

Also booked was the driver of the vehicle Roxanne Wood, 32, of Reno, for suspicion of possession of .4 grams of heroin, gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription (10 Rx pills) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $6,137.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 17 in the area Lukens and Sherman Lane for a failure to appear domestic battery warrant.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area regarding a female dancing in the street in her underwear and speaking gibberish. The woman appeared to be under the influence. Dispatch confirmed the misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody. Bail: $3,000.
