Pen to paper: Carson High's Abel Carter accepts Division-1 scholarship offer to Washington State
After much thought and consideration, Abel Carter officially signed Thursday a partial Division-1 baseball scholarship to Washington State University.
Throughout his four years at Carson High School, Carter has put together quite the resume. The three-sport star came off an impressive 2017 Senator football season, setting the school record with 1,903 rushing yards. He also hit .404 as a junior with 14 extra base hits, which lead to a first round birth in the 2016-17 NIAA 4A Northern Baseball Playoffs.
“I am really excited to what my future holds,” Carter said. “But there is much more work to be done this season. We have big expectations as a team. Starting with basketball, and then moving onto the baseball. All I can do is try my best and contribute anyway possible.
Carter will join former Carson Senator Bryce Moyle at WSU, who played the role of the starting pitcher and first baseman for the team last season.
“His presence means lots to me,” he said. “Having Bryce there will give me someone to talk to.”
Carter’s limitless potential and diligent work ethic helped establish himself as one of the top athletes in Northern Nevada, as well as pave the way toward a bright future at WSU.
