Santa Train, Christmas season is full steam ahead in Carson City
A Carson City Christmas tradition for more than three decades, the annual Santa Train has hit full steam at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (NSRM), located at 2180 South Carson Street.
Pulled by the vintage Virginia and Truckee No. 25 steam engine, the train's 33rd season kicked off Dec. 2 in the Nevada state capital, running three consecutive weekends through Dec. 17. The Santa Train operates on Saturdays and Sundays only.
Santa Claus himself visits passengers aboard every train ride, handing out candy canes, posing for photos and making mental note of Christmas wishes.
Each train ride leaves Wabuska Station about every half hour beginning at 10 a.m. The last train departs at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for all riders. Children two and under who sit in an adult’s lap can ride for free.
Advance tickets are available here for online purchase.
