Sunday, Oct. 22: Things to do around Carson City and Beyond
Nevada Day is just around the corner, but don’t jump the gun. This weekend offers fun for the young and young-at-heart. If you’ve got more apples than you know what to do with, the Greenhouse Garden Center has a cider press available today. Play BINGO for a good cause at the Carson City Senior Center, and don’t forget your costume. Carson City Symphony Association begins their 34th Season today with a concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater; as always, those under 18 get free admission.

- — Family Day at Empire Ranch Golf Course (Kids play free with each paid adult green fee, one for one)
- — Clear Creek Bowmen Annual Turkey ‘Fun’ Shoot at the Centennial Park Archery Range (registration 7:30am-8:45am, Shooting will begin at 9am; Adult $20, Couple $25, Family $30, Young Adults (15-17) $10, Youth (12-14): $5, Cubs and Pewees 11-under Free; Hamburger Lunch $6; shooting at 3D targets - not shooting at live turkeys)
- — Breakfast and Bowling at Carson Lanes (breakfast served 7:30am-11am, unlimited bowling 9am-12pm; $13, $8 kids 8 and younger)
- — Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (NEW TIME: meet at 9am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. - — Final Day: Third Annual Harvest Train and Festival with Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine Rides at the Nevada State Train Museum (10am-4pm; unlimited train rides and museum admission $15 adults, $5 kids 4-17 old-fashioned pumpkin patch, artists, crafters, food trucks and more)
- — Community Apple Cider Press at Greenhouse Garden Center (10am-3pm; bring clean, quartered apples – core is okay, but no worms - and a drink container with lid; 14 – 16 pounds of apples will make one gallon of cider; for more info call 775-882-8600)
- — Annual Nevada Day Art Show in the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)

- — Breast Cancer Awareness “Party in Pink” Zumbathon at the Dayton Community Center: 170 Pike Street, Dayton (doors 9am, zumba 10am-11:30am; $10 donation; all ages welcome; hosted by Curves in Dayton; All proceeds go to the Zumba Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention and our local Carson Tahoe Hospital Cancer Research Center)
It’s wedding fever at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort. The annual Fall in Love Bridal Festival features everything you’ll need to make your special day picture perfect. Meet local vendors, sample yummy treats, and enjoy the strolling fashion show.
