Using a 7-iron and hitting over a pond, Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club member, Wendy Oleson, scored her first hole-in-one on the 112-yard, 14th hole of the Outdoor Resort Palm Springs golf course during the first round of the club championship on March 6.

Undoubtedly a year like no other, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s Mike Tice Charity Weekend was one many events cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

There is no need to delay taking classes until next year at Western Nevada College. WNC has you covered with a variety of late-start classes during the current fall semester.

The annual Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club President’s Cup tournament took place July 14 and July 16 at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club Ranch and Lake courses. Thirty members competed in the two-day net tournament. Jeri Mihelic won the tournament with a net score of 142. Gail Teig was the runner-up with a score of 143 and Terri Ianiro was the 3rd place winner with a score of 147.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area to help the next three days breeze by. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

Carson Animal Services Initiative would like to thank everyone who joined us on May 18 for our annual Woofs, Wine and Whiskers wine tasting event. Once again people came together to help animals in need, and we are grateful!

GARDNERVILLE — The 8th annual charity golf tournament weekend “For the Kids” hosted by Mike Tice, former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings and more recently offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders, will take place June 15-17.

Although Veterans Day was observed yesterday, there are several things today that honor our former members of the military. Battle Born Harley Davidson is throwing an appreciation party complete with food trucks. Virginia City’s annual Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. and the City of Reno will commence their parade after a short ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. You’ll find an abundance of craft fairs in Carson City, Carson Valley, and Dayton. Nevada Day is just around the corner, but don’t jump the gun. This weekend offers fun for the young and young-at-heart. If you’ve got more apples than you know what to do with, the Greenhouse Garden Center has a cider press available today. Play BINGO for a good cause at the Carson City Senior Center, and don’t forget your costume. Carson City Symphony Association begins their 34th Season today with a concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater; as always, those under 18 get free admission.
