Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

Attendees are invited to dress up for a cocktail or two and join "Women Making The Difference" for a Spring Fling.
The models are all candidates for the 2018 mid-term election including Chris Giunchigliani who is running for Governor.
These fine ladies will be sporting fashions from Dillard's. There will also be savory appetizers, and raffle/silent auction items.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 24 2016, 2-5 P.M. to attend the fourth Oh, My Bonnets and Bustles! Fashion Show held at the Governor’s Mansion grounds in Carson City. Tickets are $25 and are available now at the Nevada State Museum store. Only 100 tickets will be sold in order to maximize the experience for attendees, so make sure to get yours soon! Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the NSM.

Don’t miss the Fly-in and Open House at the Carson City Airport: fun for the whole family. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one of Carson City’s favorite events: the Taste of Downtown. Music, food, and more from Carson Mall to Williams Street. Have a great time, and be safe.

The Dangberg Home Historic Ranch is celebrating our infamous Washoe Zephyr this weekend with kite making, demonstrations, and more. The Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch would love to see you at their open house on Saturday; if you’re an early riser, join them on a 7 a.m. bird walk. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is hosting their annual Cops and Kids Open House, so head to the courthouse for some fun.

Multi-faith prayers to open Earth Day celebrations in Reno

Religious statesman Rajan Zed will direct this special multi-faith invocation; which will include Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Native American and Baha’i prayers focused on healthier environment and respecting the nature of the planet we live on.
This over 20-years old annual all-day (10 am to 6 pm) free event in Reno’s about 40-acres Idlewild Park is expected to attract over 20,000 people from all over the region in Nevada and nearby California.
