Empty Bowls Event

Carson City's Empty Bowls 2019 announces Awards for Best Soup

2019 Carson City’s Empty Bowls event was a success! This event would have never been possible without our local restaurants’ donations of several gallons of soup. This year was our first year awarding the best, most popular soup served. It was a very difficult decision to make as all of the soups were phenomenal, but here are our top three winners!

Downtown Carson City shines Friday and Saturday with Christmas light

The spirit of the Christmas season was alive in the streets of downtown Carson City on Friday and Saturday nights. The first three photos are of the Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights celebration and were taken by Lynn McCarthy. The final set of photos, taken by Cathleen Allison of Nevada Momentum, are of Saturday night's Holiday Crawl, in support of the Holiday with a Hero campaign. The final photo from FISH is at the Project Empty Bowls event held Saturday at the Carson Mall.

Volunteers sought for Carson City Empty Bowls Project this Saturday

Hi everyone. We are looking for volunteers for our upcoming 2019 Carson City Project Empty Bowls event! Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group.

Column: Don't forget to fill your empty bowl Friday night

I'll be eating soup for dinner tonight.

But unlike others in the community who struggle every day with hunger, my bowl won't be empty.

Tonight is the night when the light switch gets flipped. Join Santa and our community tonight at the annual Silver and Snowflakes tree lighting.
