Volunteers and veterans place flags at Carson City cemetery ahead of Memorial Day
Veterans and families from Carson City volunteered their time at Lone Mountain Cemetery on Friday by placing more than 1,000 flags over the headstones of fallen veterans.
Veteran organizations such as the Marine Corps League Detachment 602, contributed to the overall success of the flag planting.
Head Volunteer Ron Gutzman spoke about the massive contribution from the Carson City locals.
“It is great too see everybody out here helping a great cause. It brings a smile to my face, to see so many people honoring the veterans who gave their lives.” Gutzman said. “Memorial Day means so much to me, and it’s great that others think the same way.”
The flags will be removed Monday at p.m. Monday. Gutzman said help on Monday is always appreciated.
