Free rides offered to Early Vote in Carson City (all day). Need a ride to early voting? Look no further, Derek Morgan for Nevada is providing free rides to early voting in Carson City. Muscle Powered Trash Mob to clean Ambrose Carson River Natural Area. 9 a.m. Meet at Ambrose Carson River Natural area, located 1.3 miles south of Highway 50 on Deer Run Road. The Carson City Trash Mob will set out Saturday, Feb. 15 to clean up the Ambrose Carson River Natural Area. Anyone is welcome to join in the effort, organized by Muscle Powered.

Early Carson City voting in Nevada Democratic Caucus process begins Saturday. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the rear of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Starting this weekend, Nevada's Democrats will have an opportunity to cast early votes for up to five candidates, in preference order, who are still in the running for delegates to the county, state and national conventions that will select the Democratic nominee for November's presidential election.

Guided snowshoe hikes with a ranger on the Carson Ranger District. 10 a.m. at Tahoe Meadows, one mile southwest of the summit of Nevada State Route 431 Mt. Rose Highway. The Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is pleased to announce the return of the popular Forest Ranger-led snowshoe walks. The walks begin this Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be offered every Saturday through March 28.

Dayton Early Voting for Democratic Caucus. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Dayton Senior Center, 320 Dayton Valley Rd. Nevada's Democrats will have an opportunity to cast early votes for up to five candidates, in preference order, who are still in the running for delegates to the county, state and national conventions that will select the Democratic nominee for November's presidential election.

Pokemon Club at the Carson City Library. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 900 N. Roop St. Learn how to play the Pokemon trading card game. Each month will focus on a new skill. Join the fun and meet new friends! Must be able to add, subtract, and do basic math.

Valentine's Day Dinner at Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City. Don’t forget to set a reservation for Valentine’s Day at Red’s Old 395 Grill at 1055 S. Carson St. Every couple will be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket including a $50 Red's gift card, 2 movie tickets, and a bottle of Cabernet! We're featuring our Rack of Lamb and Smoked Prime Rib dinner special all day February 14th and 15th.

Saturday Beginning Wheel Throwing at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 1 to 4 p.m. at 1215 S. Carson St. The Ogres of Ogres-Holm introduce you to clay in this 6-week open start class, including open studio time, is designed to get you started. It’s a great way to relax on a Saturday afternoon. $175 for six weekly sessions or $45 drop ins.

Relay for Life of Carson City, Douglas County kickoff with Bowl-A-Thon. 3 to 5 p.m. at Carson Lanes, 4600 Snyder Ave. Come and enjoy an afternoon of bowling and learn about Relay. All ages are welcome to join and have a good time!

Caterpillar's Hookah Lounge Speed Dating. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 314 S. Carson St. Join us the day after Valentines Day for Caterpillar's first ever Speed dating event hosted by our fantastic Lounge Staff. No cover fee is needed!

Annual Carson City Republican Lincoln Day Dinner featured Saturday. 5 p.m. at the Carson City Fandango Ballroom. This year's Lincoln Day Dinner is going to reflect the energy and excitement of the 2020 presidential campaign and the Carson City Republican Committee has planned a special evening for all.

Family Bingo Night for CHS Safe and Sober Grad Night. 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Mall, 1313 S. Carson St. Help support Carson High School with a family-friendly Bingo Night at the Carson Mall! We will have plenty of cards for sale and a wide range of gifts and prizes.

Mangia Tutto presents Dale Poune. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 200 N. Stewart St. Enjoy a romantic evening of Italian cuisine, wine and live music from Dale Poune at Mangia Tutto this Valentine's Day weekend in Downtown Carson City.

Carson City Celtic Music Series continues with Fortunate Strangers in concert. 7 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. Fortunate Strangers is a West Coast band featuring Scottish and Irish songs. The band combines the experience of three performers from the San Francisco Bay Area and the High Sierra. They will be performing Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 9 a.m. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building.

Valentine's Day Craft Fair at the Carson Mall. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1313 S. Carson St. Let's Celebrate Valentine's Day. Join me with my Color Street at the Carson mall with some other vendors. Come by and make a Valentine for a Senior that will be taken to local retirement homes. Everyone who stops by my booth, On The Fly Nails by Amber and tries on a Sample, gets entered into a drawing.

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders returns to Carson City this Sunday. 12 p.m. at the MAC gym, 1860 Russell Way. Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders will be returning to Carson City this Sunday to rally the community.

Healthy Cooking Class at Sierra Chef. 1 to 3 p.m. at 2292 Main Street Suites 3 and 4 in Genoa. Sierra Chef will host a healthy cooking class to kick-off the new year! The cost is $65 per person. Please arrive on time for class.

Carson Victory Rollers to host Lover's Brawl Open Scrimmage. 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carson Community Center, 851 E. William St. Come join us for the first open scrimmage of the season! St. Paul's Lutheran Family Church in Carson City is having a huge rummage sale Saturday, April 27 at 8 am until 1:30 pm. This is a fundraiser by St. Paul's women's group, WELCA, in association with Thrivent. There will be a jewelry room and a boutique featuring decor de jour and collectibles.

Carson City area casino gaming revenue was up slightly in March, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Statewide, revenue was down 1.65 percent compared to March 2023.

UPDATE THURSDAY: The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people who died Wednesday morning following the two vehicle crash on I-580 in Carson City. They are Alejandra Hernandez Valtierra, 36, and Viola Santoyo Huizar, 48, both of Carson City.

UPDATE 12:42PM: Southbound I-580 in Carson City was opened as of around 11 a.m., said a Nevada State Police spokeswoman, who provided more details of the fatal crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

Both the driver of a car and a truck involved in the crash died. Their names have not been released pending notification of family members. The car, which was going the wrong way — northbound in the southbound lane — struck the truck and caught on fire, according to a NSP preliminary investigation thus far. The vehicle makes are unknown at this time.

Dayton Elementary School in Lyon County was honored Wednesday along 13 other schools including Carson High in Carson City as a Nevada Purple Star School.

Schools receiving the designation have committed to supporting the educational and social-emotional needs of military-connected children and their families.

Junior Park Ranger Day is back this Saturday, April 27 at Riverview Park in Carson City.

Junior Park Ranger Day is an annual event dedicated to help kids complete their Junior Ranger Adventure Guides and be sworn in all in one day.

Carson City School District hosted a ceremony Wednesday morning with local dignitaries from the Nevada Department of Education and officers from local military bases. Carson High School was honored with a Nevada Purple Star School designation for supporting military-connected students and their families.

A 37-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of obstruction, trespassing and felony sex offender failing to register, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Laura Ricks, TOSA/Instructional Coach at Empire Elementary School, was honored as the Carson City School District’s Educator of the Year, at the Tuesday, April 23, school board meeting and annual event.

Additionally, Sandra Guzzetta, special education paraprofessional at Bordewich Bray Elementary School, was recognized as the Education Support Professional Employee of the Year, and Chelise Crookshanks, principal at Mark Twain Elementary School, was recognized as the district’s Administrator of the Year.

Tickets are now available for this summer’s Capital City Brewfest. This year’s event takes place June 22 on Curry Street at McFadden Plaza in Carson City. More than two dozen brewers, as well as several food trucks, will line the street from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Plus there will be live music on the McFadden Plaza stage.

The Carson City Planning Commission meeting will be held Wednesday, April 24 in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William St. at 5 p.m.

Western Nevada College’s Veterans Resource Center and Wildcat Veterans Club invite the community to participate in a Walk for Hope on Wednesday, May 1, at 9 a.m.
