Empowering and Educating Women on Breast Health, Carson Tahoe Health Announces Project Pink Event
Carson Tahoe offers a special opportunity for women with a family history of breast cancer to learn about genetic risks and proactive steps to protect against the disease.
With Mother’s Day coming up on May 10, Carson Tahoe Health is encouraging women with a family history of breast cancer to be proactive about their breast health by attending their annual event, Project Pink. A woman’s risk of breast cancer doubles if she has a close relative (mother, sister, or daughter) who has been diagnosed with the disease.
Women who receive a breast cancer diagnosis may be faced with a series of questions and uncertainty about how the diagnosis will affect their loved ones, what they can do to protect their families, and whether genetic testing should be considered.
Project Pink is a special evening for women in the community to speak openly with breast cancer experts about what a diagnosis means for their families. Mothers, sisters, and daughters are encouraged to come together for an empowering discussion with Carson Tahoe physicians who specialize in: radiation oncology, medical oncology, breast imaging, lymphedema, genetics, nutrition, and personal training.
“Project Pink offers an opportunity for women in our community to be proactive about their breast health in an open, friendly, and supportive environment,” says Annie Millard, Cancer Center Director with Carson Tahoe Health. “We are pleased to provide women, who have a family history of breast cancer, the latest information on their risk for developing the disease in the future.”
Project Pink will be held on Thursday, May 7 2015 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, located at 1535 Medical Parkway in North Carson City from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Admission is free and space is limited, so please secure your spot in advance by RSVP’ing to (775) 445-7500. Come with questions and leave with empowerment, knowledge and hope.
