Soroptimist International of Carson City is pleased to announce our “Women Helping Women” Honorees to be recognized for their dedication to improving the lives of women or girls in our community, at our Virtual “Celebrating Women Helping Women” Recognition Event, via Zoom, on February 18, 2021 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is seeking nominations for its annual Ruby Award. The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making a difference in the lives of women or girls in the areas of health, education, and economic and social development and inspires and encourages other women.

Do you know of a woman in our Carson City community who is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls and should be recognized for her efforts? Soroptimist International of Carson City is accepting sponsorship submissions for our 2021 “Women Helping Women” honorees.

Soroptimist International of Carson City joins with our Partnership Sponsor, Allison MacKenzie, to invite businesses, nonprofits and local agencies to sponsor a woman from their company or from the community as a “Women Helping Women” Honoree in recognition of her dedication to improving the lives of women or girls. Honoree sponsorship submissions are due by December 31, 2020. Honorees will be recognized at our “Celebrating Women Helping Women” event, to be held virtually on February 18, 2021 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.

Soroptimist International of Carson City is presenting a “Let’s Get Acquainted” orientation meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The public is invited to attend the event online via Zoom.

In line with his announcement made on Monday, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced he signed Emergency Directive 029 extending previously issued directives that were set to expire on July 31, 2020.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — The Resident Artist Program in Silver City announced that their summer visiting artist is Kerry Rossow, an Illinois-based author, performer, and co-founder of the She Said Project.

Carson City Soroptimist will present grant awards to two women, and honor the achievements of local high school seniors, on Wednesday, May 22, noon to 1 p.m. at Glen Eagles. The meeting is open to the public, with prior reservations required.

It’s big news: female lawmakers now hold 32 of the Nevada state legislature’s 63 seats. Thus, Nevada has the distinction of being the first state in the country to seat a female majority to its legislative assembly.

But, that this momentous occasion has transpired first in Nevada oozes with irony. After all, Nevada is the only state in the country that legally sanctions the buying and selling of women for sex.

The most emblematic measure of women’s true status in any society is reflected in its prostitution laws: are women public sexual commodities under the law or not?

Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra is hosting their 30th annual Elegant Evening fund-raiser on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

Guests will enjoy delicious food, wine, beer and vodka tastings, raffles plus dancing the night away enjoying live music with “The Soul Experience” featuring Trey Stone.

Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery will return to Carson City and South Lake Tahoe this month as part of their two-year tour of the United States.

During their Carson City visit, from Jan. 15-20, the monks will construct a Manjushri, also known as Buddha of Wisdom Sand Mandala.
