7th Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer golf, bench press tourney raises more than $13K

The sold-out event resulted in 140 golfers teeing off and 9 weightlifters bench pressing to raise over $10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and over $3,000 for the Marilyn Elaine Scholarship.
Carson City Brewfest cancelled due to COVID-19, rescheduled for 2021

The annual event, which funds the Rotary Club’s scholarships and youth programs, featured several dozen regional breweries and distilleries. The club has set the date of June 26, 2021 for the next Brewfest.

This means that the annual Father-Daughter Ball at Carson High School, scheduled for April 3, has been cancelled.
Snowshoe Thompson Ski & Snowshoe event celebrates 20 years

Snow or no snow, event activities begin with a guided tour starting at 9:30 am with Norwegian native and longboard ski expert Nina MacLeod, who will also give a longboard ski demonstration if sufficient snow is present. Attendees should bring their own snowshoes and cross country skis.

The young man that I accompanied was a rather precocious and talkative eight-year old who was a bit jaded when it came to acknowledging the magic of Christmas. However, during the shopping part of the activity, my new young friend became very animated and hopeful as he talked about selecting gifts for his family and for himself.

Annual Pooch Plunge shows Carson City's canines a doggone good time

Each year, on the last day that the outdoor pool at the Carson City Aquatic Center is open, the gates are opened to the pooches for a day of swimming, ball catching, frisbee chasing, and lots and lots of pats for the good boys and girls of Carson City.
All proceeds of the annual event go to supporting CASI .
