At the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, an affiliate of Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah and accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, convenience is paramount. Even in the midst of a global pandemic the cancer center has made it a priority to improve their patients’ health, comfort, and well-being by utilizing new and effective technology.

As COVID-19 cases soar in Northern Nevada and local and regional hospitals are reaching capacity, Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City is making changes to adapt to the surge of cases.

Like the rest of Northern Nevada, the nation, and the world, Carson Tahoe has spent the last 8-10 months planning. Planning to be prepared in a crisis so we can still take care of our community; planning to persevere; planning to help one another.

Now – we’re in it.

Carson City and our Northern Nevada region are seeing a slow, but steady increase in the number of COVID cases. Noticing this, and acting on recommendations from the U.S. Surgeon General and the American College of Surgeons, Carson Tahoe decided to temporarily suspend non-emergent or non-time-sensitive surgeries through Nov. 22, in which time it will be reevaluated.

With COVID-19 keeping most of us home these days, otherwise healthy patients are being forced to make some tougher than usual decisions regarding their medical and musculoskeletal healthcare, including orthopedic, sports medicine and podiatric care.

Heading into Tuesday, July 23, 2019 there's plenty of indoor and outdoor activities around Carson City, including a morning power walk and evening hike and bike ride, an Apollo lecture at the Nevada State Museum, high tech imaging demonstrations with NASA technology at the Carson City Library Digitorium, archery at Centennial Park, art showings and more. CARSON CITY — The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently announced that Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has achieved a 4-star rating for an acute care hospital, out-ranking the national average of 3-stars.

Sierra Nevada Holistic Services (SNVHS) has been in business for the last 5 years. Until recently, the organization’s primary services were massage, energy work, and aromatherapy. The business owner, Andrea Felesina, has since become a dual board-certified family nurse practitioner. With a background in holistic/alternative practice, Andrea seeks to provide the communities of Northern Nevada with an east meets west approach to health care. In a comfortable home environment, Andrea sees patients in no rush pace so that effective communication and care is provided.

Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) and the Carson Tahoe Breast Center have recently been recognized by the National Cancer Institute for Outstanding Contributions in Oncology Research.

Carson Tahoe Health and Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City partnered Monday to host their annual kick-off event, "Think Pink," a campaign for breast cancer awareness. More than $4,000 was raised last night, alone. The campaign runs throughout the month of October, in recognition of breast cancer awareness month, to encourage women to take charge of their health.

Carson Tahoe Health held an open house Thursday for its brand-new Breast Center attached to Sierra Surgery Hospital at 1400 Medical Parkway in Carson City.

It has been reported that one in eight American women will battle breast cancer during their lifetime. And, studies show the best defense against breast cancer is early detection. With this in mind, Carson Tahoe will open its new comprehensive breast center in Carson City on Aug. 11.

The best defense against breast cancer is early detection. Annual screening mammography provides patients with the best chance for detecting cancer in the earliest possible stages.

Carson Tahoe Health is encouraging women with a family history of breast cancer to be proactive about their breast health by attending the Cancer Center’s annual Project Pink event. A woman’s risk of breast cancer doubles if she has a close relative (mother, sister, or daughter) who has been diagnosed with the disease.

Coming summer 2016, gaining access to complete breast imaging services in Carson City will be easier and more convenient than ever before. Michelle Joy, Chief Operating Officer of Carson Tahoe Health, announced Tuesday the plans for a comprehensive Breast Center at Sierra Surgery, located on the Carson Tahoe Medical Campus.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation honored a group of employees from GE Bently Nevada and the Carson Valley Inn for their ongoing efforts in support of local cancer patients in need. Over the last 12 years, they have donated over $215,000 in funds raised in support of the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, an affiliate of Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah, during their annual GE Bunko for Breast Cancer event held at the Carson Valley Inn.
