The 2nd annual 5K run raising funds for the Northern Nevada Alzheimer’s Association (NNAA) will be returning to Carson City on Saturday, Sept. 17.

According to event organizer Brenda Collings, each year NNAA holds a big annual walk at the Sparks Marina, but she wanted to create a fundraising event closer to home.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will discuss health grants, possible expansion of the courthouse, build appeals, Ross Gold Park and more at their upcoming meeting.

On Monday at approximately 9:46 a.m. the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting located in the 900 block of Mesa Drive in Fernley. The caller advised that a subject had been shot and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

The Salvation Army in Carson City has long run before- and after-school programs for local children. However, a staffing shortage has put them in jeopardy. According to The Salvation Army’s Captain Holly Beeson, six people are needed to keep the programs going.
