Virginia Truckee Railroad celebrates Heritage Day over Labor Day weekend in Virginia City
Virginia City, Nev., may seem like a long way from the storied Civil War battlegrounds of the South, but on Labor Day weekend, the cannons will be booming again on the Comstock.
Heritage Days, Sept. 3-4, will recreate battle scenes on the Virginia Truckee Railroad with Battle Trains each day, and a Champagne Battle Train on Saturday evening at 7pm.
Trains played a significant role in the war between the States by transporting troops and supplies, making them prime targets for ambushes. These battle re-creations will give you a new perspective on how these epic battles were fought. Plus it’s just plain fun to see!
Reservations are strongly recommended for the Battle Trains. Tickets are available online at virginiatruckee.com.
Fares are $36 for adults, $18 for kids ages 5-12. The Champagne Battle Train tickets are $38 for adults and $18 for kids. Board at the original 1870’s depot, located at 166 F Street in Virginia City, Nevada.
