Friends In Service Helping continues fundraising for the final $4.4 million of its $17 million budget to complete the construction of the FISH Student Housing and Commercial building at 1455 N. Carson Street, Carson City.

A community flea market and craft fair will be held in the parking lot at MidTown Marketplace, 104 Corbett St, in Carson City. Come find new treasures and hand-made items at our last Flea Market & Craft Faire of the season on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9am-2pm.

The Silver State Art Festival, known for its unique gourd art displays, is returning to Carson City this weekend, Sept. 8-10 at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall.

Participants will be met with gourd art, ceramics, basketry, painting, photography, and much more from more than 40 award-winning artists.

The Greenhouse Project's Grateful Harvest Dinner is right around the corner and event though tickets are sold out, the online auction is underway and open to the public with an array of fabulous offerings, from experience and getaway packages to art and fine wines.

The 10th annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day will be held at the beautiful Silver Oak Golf Course, Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. It is a 4-person scramble and there are numerous divisions.

The Nevada State Elks Association provided 27 scholastic awards to students, throughout our state, toward their college expenses. Other cash awards were given to six Legacy Award winners, two Vocational Award winners and five Nursing Scholarship Award winners. Carson City Elks lodge had 3 scholastic recipients at the NSEA level.

The Leisure Hour Club will begin its 127th year with their first dinner meeting set for Wednesday, September 20. Presenting at the event will be Mark McLaughlin who will speak about “Snowbound! Legendary Winters of the Tahoe Sierras.”

What we are doing: Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are invited to this fun, hands-on restoration event. By pitching in, you will help improve the ecosystem functions and wildlife habitats that surround Lake Tahoe. Healthy streams, meadows and wetlands act as natural pollution filters to Keep Tahoe Blue. Volunteers do not need previous experience to participate in the projects. Help us heal the land to Keep Tahoe Blue.
