10th Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Awareness Golf Tourney happening Sunday; former MLB player, Carson City resident Charlie Kerfeld to make appearance
The 10th annual Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day will be held at the beautiful Silver Oak Golf Course, Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. It is a 4-person scramble and there are numerous divisions.
The entry fee is $125 per person. Applications will be available soon at the Silver Oak Pro shop. It sells out every year.
This year, Carson City's most colorful Major League baseball player, Charlie Kerfeld, has agreed to come home to be honored as “Guest of Honor.”
Charlie entertained us for years, with his pitching and sense of humor. He is presently a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Also, Carson City's young 10-year-old golf prodigy, Reina Dao and her coach, Dan Challgren, have agreed to participate. Reina beat out 180 other golfers to qualify for the U.S. Kids World Championship, this August in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
