What is identified as “The Orthodox Church” today is the original Christian Church established by Jesus Christ, handed down to His Apostles, and described in the pages of the New Testament. It was one Church until a split separated Orthodox East from Latin West in the eleventh century but the Orthodox Faith and practice has continued unaltered for two thousand years.

Various Carson City arts groups have long wanted to bring artistic expression to the downtown through mural art. There have been a few murals painted here and there over the years; however, much of that art has been overpainted leaving blank slates.

Lions will be available at the Market Street WalMart and Smith’s Food and Drug on East William Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to bring awareness to the public of the sight preservation programs the Lions support, and to raise funds to support vision preservation as part of the annual White Cane Day.

Only a few months ago, Brown was living life as normal when she found a small lump, about the size of a dime, in her left breast.

Healthy Communities hosts breakfast meeting Thursday in Silver Springs

Carson High's FFA raises over $1,000 from Annual 'Cow Plop' Fundraiser

Last week, Carson High Schools Capitol FFA hosted its annual Cow Plop fundraiser. In this fundraising event, donors pay to buy a square inside of a cow’s pen.

If the cow poops on their respective square, the square’s sponsor will win $250.

Capitol FFA’s Soil Judging Team Takes Root in Top Spot at Competition

Earlier this month, Carson High School’s soil judging team took first place at the statewide competition in Ely, taking them to nationals. Soil judging is a competition where teams compete to determine the quality, water retention, classification, and consistency of the soil of a 5-foot deep hole.

State Treasurer to Speak at Carson City Rotary Meeting

Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine will be the featured speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting takes place Tuesday, October 10th, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

Senior Spotlight: Carson High’s Alexandra Llamas-Cruz

Alexandra Llamas-Cruz is a standout Senior Senator in every way. She is thoughtful, hardworking, dedicated and determined, but also a strong contributor to the school, community and to her family.

Alex is an incredible student carrying a weighted GPA of 4.6 and participating in CHS’s Advanced Placement (AP) classes. She has been honored by the College Board with an AP Scholar Award as well as the Hispanic National Recognition Award and is set to graduate with 8 AP courses successfully completed.
