Nevada Day Powwow returns Friday through Sunday at Carson City's MAC facility
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 10/28/2023 - 9:10amThe Nevada Day Powwow will return Friday through Sunday, Oct. 27-29, at the Robert Crowell Multi-Purpose Athletic Center, 1860 Russell Way in Carson City.
Dating back to the 1960s, the first gathering occurred on the Carson Colony grounds. As the years passed, the gathering had its bad and good years.
WNC president to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon

Dr. Dalpe has worked in higher education for more than 27 years supporting student access and success. In March 2023, he was appointed President of Western Nevada College (WNC), a rural community college with campuses in Carson City, Fallon and Minden, after serving more than a year in an interim capacity. He previously served as Provost and Senior Vice President at WNC, overseeing academic affairs, finance and student services.

This larger-than-life guy has a personality as big as his namesake, with a penchant for bones and a love for car rides. At first, our gentle giant can be a tad wary of strangers - perhaps he's just waiting for his own fairy tale adventure to begin.
Soup and Chili Cookoff FFA fundraiser happening Nov. 2 at Carson High

The proceeds from this event will support Carson High's Capitol FFA Chapter. Cost to enter a dish in the contest is $10 per entry.
Head down to the Carson Mall for all-day activities during the Nevada Day Parade this weekend

Anchoring the end of the parade, the Carson Mall will be a hub of festivities including the annual hot air balloon launch, the 50th Annual World Championship Single Jack Rock Drilling Contest, cornhole tournaments, live music and the annual Trading Post and Artisan’s Market.

He is project manager for Preserve Carson City Roads, a campaign designed to educate Carson City drivers about current roadway conditions, preservation solutions, potential funding sources, and what will happen if sufficient investments are not made to preserve our roads. Chris' presentation will be a status report on progress his project team has made to date.
