Take a break from all that holiday shopping and come out to the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City this weekend to enjoy Proscenium Players, Inc., new show "Love/Sick."

Symphony Youth Strings, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents "Music Around the World" on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.

Wild Horse Children's Theater will present "Honk! Jr.," the award-winning musical that transformed Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of the Ugly Duckling into a modern musical comedy.

Performances will be at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St., on Dec. 8-10 and 15-17. Show times are 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sundays.

The Carson Comedy Club Presents Comedian Daniel Humbarger. Daniel is an attorney-turned-comedian, but if you ask him, hes a purveyor of humor and ideology. Daniels stand-up is inspired from real life experiences and observations, which he uses to create completely original material.

The Mile High Jazz Band will be joined by Rita Geil and other award-winning poets and readers for an evening of big-band jazz and poetry on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Comma Coffee. General admission is $5 at the door, and free for age 18 and under.

The rumors of Santa Claus coming to town are true. The jolly old man is making several appearances today, and is feeling photogenic. Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers specializing in early music, will present “An Early Music Christmas” concert for the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 (just south of Best Buy) in Carson City. Admission is free, donations welcome.

“Peanutcracker – The Story In A Nutshell,” is a kid-sized version of the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” told in 45-minutes by 50 local school school children. Performed by Sierra Nevada Ballet, there will be performances Friday and Saturday at the Carson City Community Center.

Tis the season for visits with Santa, holiday twinkle lights, and craft fairs and festivals. Carson High School Theatre will feature the production of "Alex, Through the Looking Glass" a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice, Through a Looking Glass" adapted and written entirely by the Carson High School Intermediate and Advanced Theatre Students to include some of today’s modern social issues.

The Carson Comedy Club Presents Comedian Ryan Wingfield! Ryan is considered among the smartest writers on the comedy scene, Ryan Wingfield is quite possibly the funniest thing to come out of Alaska. He uses a combination of misdirection and innuendo, he keeps his comedy clean while still maintaining an edge. His show includes social satire with a mixture of his own life experiences. From growing up in one of the coldest places on earth to his current role as a stay-at-home dad and "trophy husband."

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "Inside and Outside the Lines", with artwork by artists Jonathan Farber and Susan Kotler at the city’s Sierra Room located in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E William Street, Carson City.

The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Richard Doede, will tie a big red bow around 2017 by presenting a Patriotic and Holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017. The free concert will be presented in the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson Community Center.
