Carson City outdoor concert features reggae and jazz royalty Marla Brown, Mo’z Motley Blues
The Brewery Arts Center continues its unforgettable season of free concerts under the stars in Carson City this Saturday with a lineup of rock, R&B soul and reggae music. This week's performance at the Minnesota Street Stage features reggae all-star headliner Marla Brown and local artists Moz’ Motley Blues.
Having started out strong with Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, and continuing with awesome music from The Novelists, Athena McIntyre, Guitar Shorty, Grace Hayes, Gene Evaro Jr., Silver, La Misa Negra, Drinking with Clowns, Southern Drawl Band, Thee Commons and Whatitdo, it’s time again to grab your family, friends and neighbors and head on down to the BAC Saturday, 7 p.m.
Sponsored in part by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers communities to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music, the Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series presents 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public currently at Minnesota Street Stage.
The series still has a diverse lineup of high caliber talent left to present spanning genres like reggae, southern rock, Cumbia, bluegrass and more.
This week’s show begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, (but remember to get here early to get a good seat!). We start with Mo’z Motley Blues Band.
Nothing livens up an event or a party like Mo’z Motley Blues band bringing you their blues infected rock, pop, soul and country repertoire. Performing 5 decades of cover music and originals regularly played on local radio and known to their fans, they bring energy and excitement to each show while working the crowd with danceable beats and great delivery.
Headlining this week is Reggae royalty Marla Brown. This vivacious singer's sublime blend of modern reggae, jazz and soul has been featured on BBC and Britain's Got Talent, among many other industry platforms. Marla’s debut single, “Better Days’ demonstrates Marla’s writing and vocal skills and as Marla explains, “is an upful declaration to my people that no matter what challenges you may face in life, you will not and shall not face it alone.
The concert series continues Saturday August 26 with five-piece electric bluegrass group Dusty Green Bones with the Cherry Pickers opening. Irish Rockers and Young Dubliners will end the series on Sept. 2.
The public is invited to bring their own picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts, which will have an open lawn and lot setting. Food trucks, libations and kids activities will be available at each of the shows. Pets on leash are welcomed as well. The Levitt AMP concert series is located at 449 West King Street at the corner of King and Minnesota. Admission is free.
