Carson City slips to ninth place in Levitt AMP voting
The Levitt AMP Carson City Summer Concert Series is in jeopardy of not being funded for a fourth consecutive season, the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) has said, slipping to ninth place in online voting.
"Carson City has dropped to ninth place in the Levitt voting process," the BAC stated on its Facebook page. "Please vote today to help bring back free live music to Carson City in 2019, then share and encourage all your friends and circles to vote as well."
Online voting began Nov. 1 and is open until Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Go here to register and vote.
The BAC said that the top 15 finalists in the voting process will receive matching grant funds to host the popular, seasonal free public outdoor concerts.
Carson City has been a finalist for the $25,000 matching grant fund award from the Levitt AMP Foundation each of the past three years, enabling the BAC to deliver a 10-week, family-friendly outdoor concert series on the Minnesota Street Stage throughout the summer.
Credit for that has largely been because of public voting that vaulted the Nevada state capital into the top 15 of non-profit finalists.
A successful campaign for the Brewery Arts Center depends on community participation to get as many online votes as possible to bring the concert series to town, the BAC said.
Community support, as measured by the number of online votes received, will be one of the key factors when the Levitt Foundation selects up to 15 winners.
Sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a national foundation dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through free live music, the BAC hopes to once again qualify as one of 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Grant Awards.
The Levitt AMP Grant Awards are an exciting matching grant opportunity created by the Levitt Foundation to serve small to mid-sized towns and cities with populations up to 400,000.
Up to 15 nonprofits will receive $25,000 each in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series — an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.
Brewery Arts Center has submitted the proposal for Carson City. The proposed venue site is Minnesota Street Stage at 511 West King Street in between the two buildings that make up the BAC. Carson City’s proposal is now posted on the Levitt AMP website for public voting here: http://levittamp.org
The Top 25 finalists will be selected through online public voting. The Levitt Foundation will then review the proposals of these 25 finalists and will select up to 15 Levitt AMP winners, which will be announced on Dec. 18.
“We have been very fortunate to have received this grant for the past three years and have enjoyed bringing the different silos of our community together each week for a barrier free event for all to enjoy,” said BAC Executive Director Gina Lopez Hill, “we would love the opportunity to do it again for Carson City.”
Brewery Arts Center asks supporters to start spreading the word to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors and rally the community to sign up and vote for Carson City’s proposal. See http://levittamp.org to learn more about the concert series.
In an effort to promote voting, the BAC is also offering 10 percent off purchases at Expresso Yourself Cafe inside the BAC, 449 W. King Street, when customers vote for Carson City to receive the Levitt AMP award.
