Second at-large suspect in Carson City residential burglary now in custody
The second suspect connected with a residential burglary that happened last month was arrested Thursday, a Carson City sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Cody Rogers-Shaw was found hiding in a yard in the 1600 block of Marian Street in Carson City at around 11:20 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.
Shaw’s charges are two counts of burglary, possession of dangerous drug without prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug with intent to sell, and a parole and probation warrant, said Lt. Brian Humphrey.
Additionally, Leon Shaw, 49, and Shelsey Wiley, 22, were arrested on suspicion of harboring a felony fugitive for providing assistance to Cody Rogers-Shaw.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives have been working an on-going investigation into two recent residential burglaries.
Rogers-Shaw and Matthew Marizza were identified as suspects in the burglaries. Marizza was arrested on May 27 on charges related to the investigation. Cody Rogers-Shaw was located Thursday as a result of a joint operation between Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Special Enforcement Team along with assistance from U. S. Marshals and Nevada Parole and Probation.
Marizza of Dayton, was arrested Friday in Lyon County, where he was brought to Carson City and booked on charges related to a Lindsay Drive residence. Several items were stolen including jewelry, an antique handgun and an iPad.
During the investigation, an officer learned Rogers-Shaw sold silver jewelry and gold earrings at a Reno pawn shop and Marizza sold a gold chain for $50 to a pawn shop in Carson City. Investigators obtained video footage of both men selling the items at the pawn shops.
