Carson City Sheriff's Log: Man jailed for domestic battery, property destruction

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:40 a.m. in the 400 block of West Winnie Lane on charges of misdemeanor first offense domestic battery, misdemeanor destruction of property, and misdemeanor resisting arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were responding to a possible residential burglary in progress in the 400 block of West Winnie Lane at 1:35 a.m. The reporting party (RP) told dispatch that a male subject was banging on the door to his residence, demading entry. The RP then reported the subject started to bang on the window adjacent to the front door and broke the glass.
When deputies arrived, they saw two men -- including the suspect -- wrestling on the ground, the report said. The suspect then got up off the ground and ran. Deputies gave chase, eventually catching up to the suspect in the 200 block of Jeanell and detaining him, the report said.
The arrest report stated that the suspect was the RP's brother, who was staying at the residence temporarily and had left earlier in the evening following an argument between the two. The suspect returned later grossly intoxicated and demanded to be let back in the home, the report said.
After the suspect broke the window, the RP confronted him. A scuffle ensued after the suspect swung at the RP with a closed fist. The punch was dodged, the report stated, and the pair fell to the ground where they wrestled each other until deputies arrived.
The RP suffered no injuries from the scuffle, the report stated.
Once detained, the suspect was observed to have superficial cuts to his fingers and right wrist, the report stated. The suspect was also observed to have a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to the arrest report, and he refused a breathalyzer test.
The suspect was then transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, the report said, and for medical clearance.
Once medically cleared, the report stated, the suspect refusd to stand up and instead laid on the floor. He refused to walk and deputies had to physically escort the suspect to the patrol vehicle, the report said.
The suspect continued to resist at the patrol car, the report said, by lodging his left leg under the door frame, requiring deputies to physically push him into the vehicle's rear seat. He was then transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.
In other arrests:
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested late Friday at 11 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Carson Street on multiple outstanding contempt of court warrants out of the Carson City Justice Court, the arrest report stated.
The arresting deputy, assigned to duty on the Special Enforcement Team, observed the supsect walking in the west parking lot of a casino and getting into a blue Jeep with a driver. The deputy approached the moving vehicle, ordering both the suspect and the driver to stop and put their hands up.
Neither the suspect nor the driver complied with the deputy's order, and vehicle continued moving forward toward the officer, the arrest report said. The deputy then reported having to remove his weapon and give lawful commands to the Jeep driver and the suspect passenger to stop and put their hands up.
After a second deputy arrived to assist, the arresting deputy holstered his weapon and was able to make contact with the suspect, who was detained. Dispatched confirmed the outstanding warrants, and the suspect was arrested, the report said. He was booked into the Carson City Jail on $5,000 bail.
— A 23-year-old male transient was arrested Friday night at 7 p.m. in the 800 block of East Musser Street on an outstanding failure to appear warrant out Lyon County and the Canal Township Justice Court in Fernley, the arrest report stated. The man was booked into the Carson City Jail on $1,299 bail.
