Arrest made in early Saturday morning shooting
Detectives with the Carson City Sheriff's Office have made an arrest in the case of an early morning shooting incident that occurred Saturday along U.S. Highway 50 East, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.
Travis Donald Mickelson, 36, of Lyon County was arrested without incident Saturday in connection with the assault with a deadly weapon incident that resulted in several rounds of gunfire being shot and one victim injured.
At 3:10 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Center received reports from residents who heard gun shots along East U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City.
At 3:16, Sheriff's deputies made contact with the victims at U.S. Highway 50 and Deer Run Road.
Information was obtained that the shooting took place while they were driving eastbound toward Lyon County. Their vehicle was struck by approximately 13 shots and one passenger in the vehicle was struck in the arm.
The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported by Carson City Fire and Paramedics to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released for a gunshot injury to the arm.
No other injuries were reported.
Information regarding the identity of the suspects was received by Sheriff’s detectives that led them to a Lyon County residence.
At the residence, Mickelson was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held at the Carson City Jail on charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, and assault with a deadly weapon.
His bail set at $75,000.
