Carson City public safety agencies set to rally Tuesday for National Night Out at Mills Park

Preparations are underway for Carson City's largest community public safety rally set to happen tonight at Mills Park. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will hosts its annual National Night Out from 5 p.m. to 8 pm. This will be the 14th year that the Sheriff’s Office has held this free public event that annually draws thousands of participants.

Fire agencies called to large structure fire in Dayton

UPDATE 5:17PM: Central Lyon County Fire District reports that both homes in Wednesday's fire in Dayton have been destroyed. Units from surrounding fire agencies remain on scene doing mop up operations.

Central Lyon County Fire confirms two bystanders were transported to a local hospital for possible smoke related injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting one family of three and a local church is assisting the other family of three to four people. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Nevada State Fire Marshals Office.

Three in custody, victim sustains non-life-theatening injuries after fight near Kings Canyon trailhead

UPDATE 11:30PM: The victim of a battery that happened early Tuesday night suffered non-life threatening injuries following a fight that he started with three men near the Kings Canyon Waterfall trailhead, a Carson City sheriff’s detective said.
The victim and the suspects had been drinking together and were hiking when the victim started the fight with the three males, said Detective Sam Hatley.
The victim suffered injuries to his head and a laceration. Because of the injuries, he was flown as a precaution to Renown Medical Center.
The three suspects were charged with misdemeanor battery after it was determined they continued the assault, kicking the man while he was on the ground and defenseless. All four men were intoxicated and are transients.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to the the intersection of Carson Street and College Parkway for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Carson City Fire Department was called this afternoon to the 3500 block of Highway 50 East near Airport Road for a traffic accident.

Carson City Fire Department called to minor gas leak at Second and South Carson

Carson City Fire Department was called to a gas leak at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the area of Second and South Carson Street. A fireman on scene said a construction crew hit a gas line. The leak was stopped and repairs were made.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Sunday night to a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle in the area of Fifth Street and Saliman.
The crash was reported at 8:48 p.m. The motorcycle rider was reportedly on the ground and bleeding.

Carson City Fire Department responds after bus carrying elderly crashes into Ormsby House

UPDATE 12:50 PM: Two people were taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital with minor injuries after a retirement community bus crashed into the Ormsby House late Thursday morning.
Carson City Assistant Fire Chief Tom Tarulli said the two were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The bus was occupied by at least 12 people. The bus driver was not injured.

Carson City emergency crews and the Carson City Sheriff's Office were dispatched tonight to a crash involving a pedestrian who was struck by a silver SUV in the parking lot of Goodwill on Highway 50 East and then sped away.

Fire restrictions implemented in Carson City and throughout region, fireworks prohibited

The Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Nevada Division of Forestry have announced the implementation of fire restrictions for all state and federally owned lands. In addition, the Carson City Fire Department has now implemented fire restrictions on city and privately owned lands within Carson City.

This will be the 24th year that RSVP has sponsored the holiday weekend carnival, complete with fireworks on Monday, July 4, plus plenty of rides, music, food booths, arts and crafts vendors and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: Arriving firefighters at the brush fire reported at Long and Molly streets in Carson City were able to knock the fire out within a few minutes of arrival, according to dispatch.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Friday afternoon to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East across from Dairy Queen. The crash was reported at 3:05 p.m. and involves a white SUV and a silver Honda, according to dispatch.

UPDATE 440PM: The two children struck in a crosswalk this afternoon at Roop and Northridge streets have non-life threatening injuries, the Carson City Sheriff's Office confirmed.

UPDATE: 1PM: The ages of the children involved in the vehicle pedestrian crash are a 2-1/2-year old and a 15 year-old. One was taken to Renown Medical Center and the other Carson Tahoe Hospital, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Cullen. The children were crossing in a crosswalk at the intersection of Roop and Northridge when they were struck, he said. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
The accident is under investigation.

Crews arriving on scene report the children are ages 4 and 12-years-old and both were conscious and alert, according to dispatch.

Carson City emergency crews respond to motorcycle crash at Highway 50 near Spooner junction

UPDATE 407PM: A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper reports that the incident on Highway 50 eastbound lane near Spooner junction involved a female motorcycle passenger who fell off the back of a motorcycle. She suffered back injuries and was taken via ambulance.

UPDATE: Care Flight, which was scheduled to land near the Park and Ride at Spooner Junction, has been canceled. The rider was taken by ambulance to Renown Medical Center in Reno. We will update as we get more information.

Emergency crews respond to four-vehicle crash at northbound I-580 onramp

UPDATE 7PM: One person has been flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno and one has been taken by ground ambulance following a four-vehicle crash on the I-580, Highway 50 East onramp. Two others suffered minor injuries.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. At this time the make and models of the vehicles involved is unknown. Also unknown are the conditions and identities of the two patients seriously injured.

A 43-year-old Zephyr Cove woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was found in her vehicle following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday just after noon for an accident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. The collision was reported to be near the intersection of College Parkway and Omsby.

Elderly woman beaten at north Carson City home, son in custody

UPDATE 8:26PM: A Carson City man is in custody after attempting to beat his mother to death Tuesday afternoon at an Arrowhead Drive home, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

Douglas Taladay, 40, is in custody at Carson City Jail and faces charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, elderly enhancement and preventing a victim from calling 911. His bail is set at $500,000. Taladay admitted the crimes to investigators, said Furlong.
