Southbound I-580 at Lakeview Hill reopened after multi-vehicle crashes on Carson City freeway

UPDATE 1:27PM: A Nevada Highway Patrol dispatcher says NHP is able to confirm two people were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno and that Care Flight was called to the scene. The two had minor injuries, the dispatcher said. It is unclear how many other people were taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital, the dispatcher said. An NHP trooper had said earlier that up to five people were taken to the hospital, between Carson City and Reno. There were two crashes that happened, the first at 11:09 a.m. and the second and more serious reported to NHP at 11:38 a.m.

Carson City emergency responders called to crash with bicyclist at Lompa and College Parkway

Carson City Fire Department was called just after 4:30 p.m. to a vehicle crash involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Lompa Lane and College Parkway.

The bicycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, suffered minor cuts and bruises and was at fault in the crash, which happened when a pickup that was turning right onto Lompa Lane hit the bicyclist who went straight, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Carson City Fire Chief: Early morning fire on Woodside destroys carport, vehicles

A fire early Wednesday morning destroyed a car port and at least three vehicles at 3190 Woodside Drive, according to Carson City Fire Chief Bob Schreihans.

At 2:24 a.m. dispatch received word of the blaze that had erupted into a fully-involved fire by the time firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation, said Schreihans.

A Carson City jail inmate who allegedly consumed hand sanitizer, was booked Saturday on suspicion of gross misdemeanor assault on a police officer and resisting after he charged at jail staff in which a taser was used to stop him, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Carson City Fire Department will allow open burning March 12, 2016 to April 10, 2016. The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.

Victim found dead in Silver Springs structure fire

One person died in a Silver Springs structure fire that happened Monday morning. It is the second fatality involving fires Monday morning, with an elderly man who died in an early morning Carson City apartment fire.

Elderly man and cat die in early morning South Roop Street apartment fire

UPDATE 3:55PM: Carson City Fire Department Chief Bob Schreihans said the early Monday morning fire that took the life of a 70-year-old man at a Senator Apartments unit on South Roop Street appears to be accidental.
Preliminary findings show possible smoking in bed but that still has not been determined, said Schreihans. The matter remains under investigation.

An elderly man and his pet cat died in a fire that may have resulted from an explosion inside a Roop Street apartment unit early Monday morning.
Firefighters were called at 12:12 a.m. to the Senator Apartment complex at 505 South Roop Street and quickly extinguished the fire.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Thursday morning to a traffic accident at Northgate Lane and Hot Springs Road.

The crash was reported shortly before 11:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles, a beige sedan and a silver sedan. There were initial reports of two people injured, including a pregnant female and one with a possible broken arm. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.

NHP identifies Carson City woman fatally struck Wednesday in Fairview crosswalk

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the Carson City woman who was killed Wednesday night in a pedestrian accident with a vehicle on Fairview Drive and Gordon Street. Milissa Victorino, 46, died after being struck by a GMC Safari van driven by an 82-year-old man who was traveling southbound on Fairview, said NHP Trooper Duncan Dauber.

UPDATE 8:35PM: Highway 50 traffic has been diverted because of the pedestrian crash Wednesday night at Highway 50 East and Fairview, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel. The stretch of roadway has been blocked at Fairview and Highway 50 and Fairview south at Gordon.

Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving vehicle and cyclist on Second Street

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to the area of Second Street by the courthouse Tuesday morning for a vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The accident happened at around 9:22 a.m. in the area of Second Street about a block east of Roop Street.

Carson City emergency crews called to vehicle crash on East Fifth Street

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Monday afternoon to a crash involving three vehicles in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street.
Traffic along 5th Street has been diverted at Carson Meadows and eastbound traffic was being diverted, according to emergency responders on scene.

Carson City emergency crews called to motorcycle crash on North Carson Street

UPDATE: The driver of the red Dodge minivan who rear-ended a motorcycle rider was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel. The Harley rider was not injured.
As of 4:13 p.m. one lane of traffic was open, with motorists being diverted through the southbound median.

Power line down in middle of Highway 50 East, traffic being diverted

NV Energy reports approximately 190 customers in the area are without power as of 1:05 p.m.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to a power line down in the 1500 to 1600 block of Highway 50 East. Traffic is being diverted. All eastbound traffic is being diverted at Saliman and Highway 50 to Rand and Long and westbound Highway 50 traffic is being diverted to Russell.
NV Energy has arrived at the scene and is working on removing the lines. The call came into dispatch just after 12:30 p.m.

If you see a smoke plume to the east, it is likely the controlled burn happening today at Empire Ranch Golf Course.
Dispatch and Carson City Fire Department advised they are aware of the burning.

UPDATE: Woman in vehicle pedestrian crash on North Carson Street dies

UPDATE: 8:50PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirms that the pedestrian who was hit in the intersection of North Carson Street and College Parkway, has died. The identity of the woman has not been released pending notification of family members.

UPDATE: The victim is an older female who was reported to be breathing but unconscious. She was taken by ground ambulance to the Carson City Airport and flown to the trauma ward of Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

UPDATE 11:15AM: Carson City is experiencing minor, localized flooding, according to the city's Facebook page. Sandbags are available at Public Works Corporate Yard on Butti Way. Call 887-2355 if you need more information. As of 11:15 there were 14 NV Energy outages in Carson City with 253 customers without power. Douglas County has 16 outages with 165 customers without power. There is one outage in Lyon County with one customer without power.

Emergency crews respond to crash at Silver Sage and Tuscarora Way

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday night to a traffic accident with injuries at Silver Sage and Tuscarora Way.
According to dispatch the crash involved a red sedan and a silver minivan. The accident was called into dispatch at around 6:20 p.m. Traffic in the area has been interrupted and motorists can expect delays.

Carson City Dispatch: Three-vehicle accident at Eagle Station and South Carson Street

UPDATE 4:32 PM: Carson City emergency crews reported that the accident has been cleared up and all lanes are open now. The No. 1 northbound lane had originally been re-routed because of the accident. Minor injuries were reported.
