Carson City emergency crews respond to vehicle crash on William Street near Gold Dust West

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies have responded to a traffic accident that happened at around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday morning across from Gold Dust West in the 2100 block of East William Street.

First responders on scene report two vehicles involved. Ambulance personnel are checking on injuries. Motorists are advised to keep clear of the area and to expect some east and westbound traffic delays.

I-580 and Eastlake reopen, structures lost in 2,000-acre Little Valley Fire

UPDATE 6:22PM: The Little Valley Fire has burned more than 2,000 acres and 22 homes. The fire is burning west of Franktown Road, moving north toward Bowers Mansion and Joy Lake Road. The Unified Command transitioned to the Sierra Front Type 3 Incident Management Team at 5 p.m.

Firefighters get upper hand on wildfire in south Carson City, wind remains top concern

UPDATE 8:38AM FRIDAY: The Clear Creek fire is 100 percent contained as of Friday morning. Fire crews are keeping an eye on hotspots and embers and were busy overnight with spot fires, said Carson City Fire Department Spokeswoman Stacey Belt.

UPDATE 9:10PM: Approximately 65 homes have been evacuated because of the fire in the Clear Creek area in southeast Carson City. The cause of the fire, reported at 5:38 p.m., is under investigation. Carson City Fire Department spokeswoman Stacey Belt said all the large flames have been knocked down, however there are embers and hot spots. There is zero percent containment as of 9 p.m. There will be crews monitoring the fire throughout the night. Evacuees will not be allowed into their homes before midnight, said Belt.

UPDATE 8:57PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has turned over its police operations to Washoe Tribe Police Department because the fire is on tribal land, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. Carson City Fire Department and other outside agencies continue to monitor the fire, striking down blowing embers and attempting to get a perimeter. The Salvation Army is at Fuji Park providing assistance for the evacuees, said CCFD spokeswoman Stacey Belt.

UPDATE 8:32PM: Clear Creek Fire update From Stacey Belt, public information officer for Carson City Fire Department: As of 8 p.m. there have been no structures lost, no injuries reported, mutual aid is responding from throughout the region. Public Works is responding in the neighborhoods, looking for spot fires.
"We are fighting high winds. Embers are flying. We are expecting the winds to pick up in the next hour. So our goal is to get around this as soon as possible to save this community," she said.

UPDATE 7:58PM: Power is out in the Topsy Lane area, NV Energy work crews are working to restore power. Traffic lights are out in the area. Winds continue to move the fire. No containment at this time. There haven't been reports at this time of structures burned.

Carson City Sheriff: Suspect in custody, victim seriously injured in King Street apartment stabbing

UPDATE 11:01PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has identified Kenneth Paz, 38, as the suspect involved in the Wednesday night stabbing at a King Street apartment. Paz had allegedly gotten into fight as the victim’s daughter was moving out of her apartment and stabbed the male victim. He was arrested at the scene without incident and charged with battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Carson City Jail with a $30,000 bail.

UPDATE 8:32PM: Four vehicles were involved in the crash Tuesday afternoon that sent two to the hospital via Care Flight and one via ground ambulance. The vehicles involved were a 2007 Toyota Highlander, a 1996 Ford Windstar, a 2003 Buick Regal and a 1998 Peterbilt commercial truck.

UPDATE 5:13PM: Two homes and three outbuildings burned on Stones Throw Road in the Frontage fire. Douglas County 911 Communications is working on the reverse 911 that will state that recommended evacuations have been lifted and residents can return to their homes in the Ruhenstroth area. The area on the west side of Highway 395, including Stone’s Throw, Frontage Road and the Riverview Mobile Home Park remain closed to the residents.

UPDATE 4:25PM: Winds have calmed some allowing for helicopters to aid in the firefighting. East Fork Fire has downgraded the number of acres burned in the Frontage fire to 75. Two homes, and three outbuildings have been destroyed. No injuries have been reported.

UPDATE 3:56PM: East Fork Fire Incident Command reports via dispatch that forward progress on the fire has stopped at this time, which means firefighters are getting a handle on the fire.

Fire restrictions in Western Nevada to be lifted Friday; Carson City restrictions to remain in place

Fire restrictions on public land in Western Nevada, in place since June 30, will be lifted this Friday, Sept. 30, agency managers announced Wednesday. The Carson City Fire Department, however, has no intention at this time of lifting fire restrictions within the city limits.

Carson City emergency crews called to rollover at Long and Mountain streets

UPDATE 8:13PM: A woman was flown by Care Flight following a vehicle rollover crash Tuesday evening. The accident happened at the intersection of Mountain and Long streets, where the driver in a sedan ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, causing her car to then hit another vehicle, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Bill Richards. No other injuries were reported. The driver of the car was briefly trapped inside the vehicle. Her condition is unknown at this time.
