A 40-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of a third DUI following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 3:54PM: The evacuation has been lifted for homes and businesses around the area of Nevada and William Street following a gas leak earlier this afternoon. The area is now considered safe and free of gas vapors. Carson City Public Works and Southwest Gas remain on the scene.

UPDATE 3:37PM: The gas leak at Nevada and William Street has been stopped. Carson City firefighters are now processing the area to determine when it is deemed safe to allow people back into homes and businesses. The city has provided an updated map of the affected area. UPDATE 11:10 AM: Firefighters have put out the fire at an apartment in the 3300 block of Imperial Way. The fire was discovered by paramedics who had arrived at the residence on a medical call for a female victim.
Smoke was observed to be pouring out of the apartment unit when responders first arrived. Paramedics were able to locate and remove the female victim safely from the apartment, and firefighters doused the flames.
