Get a heavy dose of silly and strange at the 29th annual World Championship Outhouse Races in Virginia City. Sample the savory at the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno or Oktoberfest celebrations occurring at Camp Richardson, Lake Tahoe, and the Casino Fandango in Carson City.

— Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Road in Carson City, at 9 a.m. in the south parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind.
All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes.

— Organic U-Pick Apples at the Apple Basket, 7425 Franktown Road in Washoe Valley, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday until the apples are gone. Four varieties of organic apples: Braeburn, Cameo, Gala, and Golden Delicious.
— 37th annual Eldorado Great Italian Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, along N. Virginia Street, beginning at West Fourth in downtown Reno. Yearly celebration of Italian culture features a grape stomp competition, wine walk, Italian farmer's market, children's gelato-eating contest, food booths, an Italian buffet inside the Eldorado, as well as live entertainment. — Fall Fish Fest at Taylor Creek Visitor Center, Lake Tahoe, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebration of the arrival of Kokanee salmon. Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located off State Route 89, three miles north of the City of South Lake Tahoe, CA.
— 24th annual Oktoberfest, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Camp Richardson Resort, State Route 89 at Lake Tahoe. Admission to the even is free. Tickets available to purchase for food and drinks. Visit www.camprichardson.com/oktoberfest for more information.
— Casino Fandango Oktoberfest 2018, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the front parking lot off South Carson Street. Admission is free. Beer garden to serve multiple Bavarian-style craft beers and offering free tastings. An array of authentic Bavarian foods, such as hot pretzels, bratwurts, sauerbraten and spaetzle, will also be served. — Forever Dance Car Wash Fundraiser at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King Street in downtown Carson City, starting at 12:30 p.m.
— Fourth annual Oktoberfest at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 U.S. Highway 395 South in Carson City, 4-8 p.m. Authentic German Food, Music, and Home Brewed Beer.

— Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program launch Winter Coat Drive. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program is hosting a winter coat drive Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, 2018. Please donate new or gently used, clean coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. Items will be distributed to families in need on Nov. 8, 2018 at 2310 South Carson St. Suite 1 Carson City or the Douglas County Washoe Tribe of NV & CA Native TANF Program office, 1248 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Nevada Artists Association annual "Autumn" art show. Exhibit open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 19, 2018 at the Brewery Arts Center gallery located at 449 West King Street in Carson City.
More than 100 local and regional artists make up the non-profit NAA which operates the gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center.
