Music in Carson City this weekend; hurry for first concert at Farmers Market
There's plenty of music set for this weekend in Carson City, including jazz lineups in celebration of Jazz! Carson City 2011. Music in the Market continues today, Saturday, through 1 p.m. at the Third and Curry Street Farmer's Market. Meanwhile, Saturday night at plan:b microlounge inside of Sassafras will feature award-winning jazz musician Joe Berry. While on Sunday it is Jazz Picnic in the Park.
Saturday at Third and Curry Street
From a long line of saloon singers, CW Bayer has been composing music and performing for decades. He arrived in the silver state long ago, having escaped from "the state that must not be named." Each of CW's songs is carefully crafted from authentic sagebrush experience. The stories behind the songs are true, or better. Appearing with CW on guitar will be the inimitable Mr. Spoons on his wonder bucket. Small children (and real men) may be enlisted with implements of rhythmic destruction. CW & Mr. Spoons play regularly at Comma Coffee, San Rafael Coffee shop, and other northern Nevada venues.
Saturday at plan:b microlounge at Sassafras
Joe Berry from 8:00-11:00 p.m.
plan:b microlounge in Sassafras, 318 N. Carson St.
Joe Berry is an award winning saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, fluent in all forms of jazz. Joining Joe will be the Los Angeles-based, new and upcoming voice in jazz, Jessie Clemens. Together, they have been impressing audiences throughout the West Coast, as well as on internet. Last year they paid tribute to the Grammy award winning album "Getz/Gilberto" and were featured on NPR's Capitol Public Radio. Joe and Jessie have both performed the national anthem for the Sacramento Kings, and have both received awards from DownBeat magazine. This must-see group includes Joey Berger, guitar; Mac Esposito, bass; and Kevin Hockett, drums
