The Carson City Fair is upon us this weekend, bringing fun new activities that are certain to become traditions for Carsonites young and young-at-heart!

Check below for the full list of scheduled events Friday through Sunday.

Please be aware that smoking is allowed only in designated areas throughout the entire weekend.

Please, for your safety and the safety of the exhibitors and their animals, leave your dog at home during the duration of the fair. Sonoma Park located at 1003 Sonoma Street is an alternative dog friendly park. If you must bring your dog they are required to remain on a leash for the entirety of your visit.

Dogs are banned at the livestock show tent and in the area east of the grassy area towards the barn.

Billiards is a family tradition for Crystal Sandoval. While she was born and raised in Carson City, as well as a Carson High graduate, her parents are immigrants: her father was born in Honduras, and her mother in Nicaragua, and they had run a billiards hall in Nicaragua for years before coming to Carson City.

"When the whole family came over to the states, they brought the idea to me to continue the family business, since they had it for a long time," Sandoval said.

UPDATE 4:50PM: The fire at the landfill has been extinguished, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini.
The fire was around 100 foot by 40 foot and knocked down by firefighters and work crews at the scene. There were no threats to structures or wildland.

UPDATE 2:50PM: A teen who crashed his mountain bike in Ash Canyon late Saturday morning was lifted out of the canyon by a Washoe County Sheriff's RAVEN helicopter and then transferred to a Care Flight air ambulance after being rescued by Carson City firefighters.
