BAC's Flatbed Concert Series continues Saturday in a new Carson City neighborhood

Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, the BAC will place musicians and bands on the flatbed and drive them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City throughout June and July.

Grass area of popular dog-friendly Sonoma Park in Carson City to open Friday afternoon

Carson City Parks Department: Fuji Park playground closed for repairs, to reopen sometime in March
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Tue, 02/04/2020 - 12:28pmThe Fuji Park playground adjacent to the Fuji Park Dog Park has been closed due to repairs, according to David Navarro, Parks Operations Superintendent from the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, and is set to be reopened sometime in March, although the time frame is dependent on an order of new parts for the playground.

Tahoe Bomb Squad called to suspicious package at Carson City’s Sonoma Park Saturday evening

The Lake Tahoe Bomb Squad was called to Carson City’s Sonoma Park Saturday evening on reports of a suspicious package found, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
As of 8:30 p.m. the bomb squad was on route to the park, which has been closed. Residents are being asked to keep away from the park for safety reasons.

Tuesday Evening Hike - Sonoma Park hosted by Muscle Powered

For the winter, these hikes moved onto paved sidewalks and paths in Carson City and will be 4-6 miles in length. If it is raining or snowing, hikes will be cancelled.

Head down to McFadden Plaza, even if you didn’t take the challenge personally. You’ll find live music, raffles, bike games, and too much fun. Western Nevada Musical Theater Company returns for another weekend of Singin’ in the Rain at the Bob Boldrick Theater. Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours are waiting to entertain you at the Brewery Arts Center. There may be some balcony seating still available, but tickets are very limited.

Julie Buntin’s tome, ‘Marlena: A Novel,’ is the chosen Nevada Reads book, and Nevada Humanities has brought the author here for a discussion and reading. Find Ms. Buntin at the Nevada State Library and Archives at lunchtime or hear her thoughts at the Minden Library this evening. Keep an eye to the skies if you’re interested in today’s Muscle Powered hikes; they will walk on the indoor track at the Multi-purpose Athletic Center if it’s rainy.

Scope out one of Carson City’s neighborhood parks during today’s Easy Walk or participate in something a little more strenuous as Muscle Powered tackles Prison Hill, off Snyder. Kids are encouraged to wear their comfy clothes and bring a favorite stuffed animal during the Carson Library’s weekly Pajama Story Time. The Deputy Howell Memorial Music Festival is quickly approaching, so all volunteers will need to attend tonight’s planning meeting at Harley Davidson.

Easy Walk Program: Walks of 1 to 2 miles in length with none or negligible elevation gain, and frequently paved or smooth paths. The walks will usually be of approximately one hour in duration. If it rains or snows, meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1860 Russell Way.
