The Friends of the Douglas County Library will host a two-day used book sale, Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, at the Minden Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.

The sale will feature paperback and hardcover fiction and nonfiction books, children's books, puzzles and more. A preview sale for members of Friends of the Douglas County Library will be from Noon to 3 pm on Friday, February 16; non-members can join at the door.

The first Lyon County Sheriff's Office saturation patrol of the New Year was conducted last Friday night, Jan. 26, 2024. The target of the saturation patrol was the Dayton patrol zone.

This event was unannounced, and the planning for the event began in December. One of the goals of the saturation patrol is to suppress crime in the designated area, even if it is for one night.

A person was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

At around 2:35 a.m. a CCSO deputy was dispatched to the area of Blue Haven Lane for a non-injury crash. Dispatch advised the adult female driver hit a parked car and told them she was "driving drunk and hit a parked car," the arrest report states.

Local authors and historians David and Gayle Woodruff re-enact the characters of one of the wealthiest couples on the West Coast during the 1920s through 1950s.

On Wednesday, the Carson City Planning Commission approved a Special Use Permit for a third proposed cannabis dispensary facility in the capital city.

The Carson City School Board took time to recognize band students from Carson High School in their Jan. 23 meeting. Freshman Jacob Blandford, French Horn; Senior Drea Cabral, Clarinet; Senior Nathan Parsons, Trumpet; and Senior Tessa Payan, Percussion, all earned a spot in All-State Band, which comprises the top band students from across the state of Nevada.
