Saint Teresa of Avila Conference, Saint Vincent de Paul Society wraps up third annual HUGS for Homeless Winter Clothing Drive

The Saint Vincent de Paul Society (SVDPS) wants to thank all the local businesses, Carson City Chamber of Commerce members and individuals who supported our 2023-2024 HUGS for Homeless Winter Clothing Drive.
Over $12,500 of new coats, gloves, hats and socks were purchased during the last quarter of 2023 and are being distributed by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and our allies Carson City Human Services, Carson City Sheriff’s MOST officers, Friends in Service Helping, Nights Off The Street, Nations Finest, Northern Nevada Dream Center, Ron Wood Family Resource Center and Rural Center for Independent Living.
Special Thanks to the businesses that provided discounted pricing on our volume purchases – Big Five Sporting Goods, Big Lots, Burlington Northern Coat Factory and C-A-L Ranch Stores.

On January 25, 2024, Carson City completed its Point-In-Time Count of our area homeless and used the Salvation Army building to host its Annual Homeless Resource Fair.
SVDPS was there to pass out coats, gloves, hats and socks while the Salvation Army provided a hot breakfast.
We have plenty of gloves, hats and socks left to be distributed in February and March, but we are running low on winter coats.
