Nevada casinos see December gaming bounce; up 13.5 percent in Carson City; $1.4B statewide
Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and all other areas of Douglas County except for south shore Lake Tahoe report a 13.51 increase in casino gaming "win" for the month, raking in $11,707,465. In 2022, the amount was $10,314,291.
Elsewhere, south shore Lake Tahoe casinos in Stateline report an 2.99 percent increase over December 2022 figures. North Lake Tahoe saw a 2.61 percent increase.
In Washoe County, casinos in Reno didn't fare as well in December, with a decrease of 7.21 percent. On the other hand, Sparks casinos saw gaming generated revenue increase by 5.75 percent.
Statewide, Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $1,432,633,317 for the month of December 2023. This amounts to a 9.04 percent increase compared to December 2022, when licensees reported a gaming win of $1,313,801,128. For the fiscal year (July 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023), gaming win has increased 5.49 percent.
The Nevada Independent reports that for the third straight year, Nevada casinos "shattered the state’s annual gaming revenue record," noting the Gaming Control Board reported Wednesday that casinos statewide collected $15.5 billion in gaming revenue in 2023, a 4.6 percent increase over 2022. Strip casinos reported a record $8.9 billion in revenue — a 7.4 percent increase over 2022 that accounted for more than 57 percent of the statewide total.
