Builders Alliance CEO to give Northern Nevada construction update at Carson City Leisure Hour Club
This month the Carson City Leisure Hour Club hosts Glen Martel, CEO of the Nevada Builders Alliance at the club’s monthly dinner meeting. The event is set for Thursday, Feb. 15.
During the presentation, Martell will share his insights into the construction projects that are underway in the region as well as the efforts of the Alliance to train skilled craftspeople for the construction industry. The Nevada Builders Alliance is Nevada’s largest state-wide professional organization representing over 1,100 members of the construction industry.
Martel’s extensive background in the construction industry includes leadership for the Builders Alliance, and previously as the city manager of Live Oak, Texas, where he concurrently provided leadership as the executive director of the Economic Development Corp.
Martel also has a distinguished military career during which he earned the rank of brigadier general. His extensive service included the position of assistant adjutant general — air for the Nevada Air National Guard.
Originally from Northern Nevada, Martel is a University of Nevada, Reno graduate where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
The Leisure Hour Club, established in September of 1896, is Carson City’s oldest continuously meeting social organization. The organization is focused on its goal of promoting knowledge on important issues, science, music and literature. Its motto of "Let knowledge grow from more to more" comes from Tennyson’s poem In Memoriam.
