UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory until 6 p.m. for portions of US-395 including near Topaz Lake and the Tamarack Burn Scar. A Flash Flood Warning expired at 4:30 p.m. for Douglas County.

At 4 p.m., Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Motorists can expect heavy rain with water over roadways.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Carson City Sheriff's Office Detective Ramon Marquez issued a press release to identify a suspect in a purse theft at a Carson City business in June 2024. This suspect has been linked to several purse thefts in Carson City and Northern Nevada. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate these thefts.

On what would have been the 89th birthday of Stan Jones, his widow Sue and over 75 family, friends and dignitaries gathered on the corner of King and Curry streets on July 12 to dedicate a city bench in his honor.
