Carson City man arrested for attempting to steal alcohol, arguing with grocery employees, and refusing to leave

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested at a local grocery store for disorderly contact after attempting to steal alcohol, refusing to leave, and arguing with store employees.
According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called down to a grocery store on E. William St. just after 2 p.m. Wednesday on report of an intoxicated man who they feared was going to try to drive after they refused to sell him more alcohol.
When deputies arrived they spoke to employees who pointed out the man as he was stumbling through the parking lot.
Deputies detained the man who they said smelled strongly of alcohol and was swaying “to the point of nearly falling over” according to the report.
Deputies asked the man for his ID and he said he didn’t have his wallet despite holding it in his left hand.
Deputies asked if he had a vehicle in the area and he said he did not. Deputies asked what kind of vehicle he owned and he said he had a white Ford SUV, but that it was parked in front of his house. Deputies observed a white Ford SUV a short distance away and ran the license plate which returned to the man as the register owner.
Deputies spoke with employees who advised the man had attempted to buy a large bottle of alcohol at the self check out kiosk but they refused the purchase as he was “clearly grossly intoxicated” according to the report.
Employees said the man could not walk straight as he stumbled around slurring his speech.
When the purchase was refused, the man became belligerent and argued with them, making rude comments about an employee’s appearance, and accusing them of stealing his money because they voided the alcohol purchase.
According to the report, the man remained a problem in the store as he stumbled around, looking for his lost car keys. Employees stopped the man as he tried to steal another bottle of alcohol from the store. One employee stated they blocked the man’s exit so he could put the bottle down, at which point the man left, only to return about a half hour later still wanting to argue with employees.
According to employees, the man then continued with his “abusive behavior” and was just leaving the store when deputies found him.
On speaking with the man, he refused to provide a preliminary breath test and was argumentative over the situation, according to the report.
Deputies placed him into custody for disorderly conduct and transported him to the hospital to be medically cleared for arrest. Upon clearance, he was taken to the jail and booked.

— A 38-year-old Reno woman was arrested behind the old K-Mart building on a Las Vegas warrant for felony obtaining / possessing a credit card without the card-holder’s consent.
According to the arrest, deputies were patrolling in the area of the old K-Mart just before 10 p.m. Wednesday when they saw a suspicious vehicle parked behind the building, according to the report.
Deputies saw a sedan parked in the loading dock with two individuals outside the vehicle. As deputies approached, the two individuals entered the vehicle.
Deputies spoke with the individuals, one of which was Valerie Pacheco. They said they were filling their car up with oil and “situate” the food they had just received from FISH a short time earlier.
Deputies ran Pacheco through dispatch which returned with a felony warrant out of Las Vegas for obtaining or possessing a credit or debit card without the card-holder’s consent.
Pacheco was taken into custody and booked into the Carson City Jail without incident.
Bail: $3,000 cash only.
