Carson City deputies arrest 68-year-old woman for first DUI

A 68-year-old Carson City woman was arrested just after 7 p.m. Thursday for DUI first.
The reporting deputy was called to the scene after a second deputy initiated a traffic stop with the woman and noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her person.
Deputies also noted she had red, watery eyes.
Deputies conducted a field sobriety test. The woman was able to maintain balance during the balance test, but showed clues of impairments in an examination of her eyes.
The woman refused to provide a voluntary Preliminary Breath Test, and deputies arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The woman was taken into custody and agreed to provide a blood draw. She was transported to the hospital to have her blood drawn before being booked into the Carson City Jail without incident.

— A 25-year-old Stateline man was arrested in the 1100 block of South Roop Street for violation of suspended sentence.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched just after 11 a.m. for an unknown problem to an address on South Roop Street. A man was lying down and not responding, according to the caller.
When deputies arrived, Carson City Fire and Paramedics were already on scene. FD stated the man was intoxicated and they’d had to wake him up.
The man said he was just sitting on the grass and that he currently lives across the street. Deputies noted he had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, and asked if he could stand up.
According to the report, the man “took a while” to get up and used his hands for assistance to maintain his balance before he stood.
Dispatch advised the man is currently under supervision with alternative sentencing with one of the conditions being no consumption of alcohol.
Deputies detained the man and he provided a partial PBT of .376. Due to his high intoxication level, he was transferred to the hospital for medical clearance before being taken into custody at the jail.

— A 26-year-old Reno woman was arrested in the Carson City Jail for calling her wife 24 times despite a no contact order.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to investigate a contempt of court violation by the District Attorney office’s victim-witness coordinator.
According to the coordinator, the inmate called the woman, who was listed as the victim in her case, several times while in custody.
Deputies spoke to the wife and asked if the inmate had been contacting her. She asked if she “needed to answer the question.” When asked about the no contact order, the woman said the inmate was trying to get the no contact order but that the public defender’s office had not returned the inmate’s calls. The woman said the inmate had not been threatening or dissuading her during the phone calls.
Deputies spoke with the inmate who said she’d been calling the woman, but insisted the no contact order had been listed and that she had paperwork to prove it in her cell. She was allowed to go to her cell to retrieve it but when she came back she said she must have thrown the documents away.
Deputies explained that they needed to go off of the most recent paperwork which states the no contact order is still in place. The woman told deputies to “do what they need to do” in regards to being add-booked for contempt.
Deputies told the inmate to stop calling her wife until the order had been lifted. She was add-booked for contempt of court.
