The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series elevated the Brewery Arts Center’s existing summer concert series, filling the Minnesota Street Stage with free, live music and transforming an underused street in the heart of downtown Carson City’s Historic District into a vibrant gathering place for the surrounding community.

The concert series will return again for 2017, according to Gina Lopez Hill, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center, which was responsible for last year's and this year's proposal to bring the concert series to Carson City and getting Carson City residents to vote for the capital city's chances online.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater will be holding auditions for the musical “Annie, Junior!” Auditions for this production, ages 5-15, will be held at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall on Thursday, January 12 from 4-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 14 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Callbacks are Saturday, January 14th, after auditions. Auditions are by appointment only! You must call for an audition slot.

If you sing, dance, play an instrument, tell jokes, poetry, etc. you're always welcome. We have a piano, drum kit, and a PA system if you need any of those to do your thing. Let us hear you before you get famous!

Be part of New Year’s Eve at Cafe at Adele’s when Gary Douglas of Reno, performs an array of music, modern through American Songbook for everyone’s dining and dancing pleasure. The tradition of ringing in the new Year, has been long established at Adele’s, and music is just one part of it.

Celebrate New Years with CASI bingo. That's right CASI will be hosting bingo at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverley Drive on New Years day! Bring your friends and family for a fun and exciting afternoon of bingo. In addition to the prize money given to the winners of the games there will be raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing too. Doors will open at 11:30 AM and the first game will start at 12:30. Buy-in is $10 and extra packets are $5. All other games are $1. The snack bar will be open offering hot dogs, chips and candy. Sometimes the wonderful CASI volunteers will bring soup.

For the first movie of 2017, the Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents "Beat the Devil" on Jan. 3. Beat the Devil is a 1953 British film directed by John Huston, starring Humphrey Bogart, Jennifer Jones and Gina Lollobrigida, and featuring Robert Morley, Peter Lorre and Bernard Lee.

The Nevada Northern Railway Museum offers a truly unique opportunity for photographers to bring their cameras back in time, taking shots of historic steam engines, railroad equipment and buildings against the beautiful backdrop of Nevada in winter. Pictures taken at this event regularly win awards in photography competitions.

Where can you see fireworks shot off a moving steam-powered train? Only in Ely! This annual train is generally a sell-out and offers 'front row' seats to the fireworks that are shot off of the back of the moving train. Passengers can watch from an open-air flat car or stay in a heated coach car (or move between the two).

The event is held in conjunction with the community’s award-winning Fire & Ice show at Cave Lake held during Martin Luther King weekend.

Military-inspired compositions and young talent are the focus of the Reno Phil’s Classix Three, set for Jan. 15 and Jan. 17, 2017 at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts. Featured guest artists and Davidson Fellows Simone Porter, violin, and Nathan Chan, cello, perform Brahms Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, op. 102. The long-time friendship between these two young prodigies is evident during performances.

The tradition of great Celtic music continues this Saturday night at the BAC with County Clarke who will perform at 7:00pm on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the MHJ Black Box Theater in Carson City.

Friends of the Carson City Library is hosting a New York New Year's Eve Party on Dec. 31st from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Carson Plaza Event Center, 211 E. 9th Street.

Proceeds from this event will provide funds to the Carson City Library for equipment. Dinner will be a buffet of tri-tip or shrimp.

Proscenium Players, Inc. announces open auditions for their upcoming production of Bus Stop, by William Inge. Interested actors are invited to audition on December 9 or December 12 at 6:30pm or on December 11 at 2:00pm at the Brewery Arts Center in the 1864 Ballroom. Performances are slated for weekends from March 24 to April 2, 2017.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the scripts and from sides. To request sides for your audition, please email ppicarsoncity@yahoo.com. All actors selected are expected to join Proscenium Players, Inc. as members.

Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its 7th annual "This is Not a Christmas Concert" on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.

I hope you got your fill of naps last weekend because this weekend is chock full of fun to be had for all. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.
