The Center for Spiritual Living, Reno and P’Opera! are co-sponsoring the “Best of Season!” Concert on Sunday, October 23rd at 5:30 pm. Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Michael Langham, will present its 2016 Fall Concerts on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s in the Mountains, 111 S. E Street in Virginia City, and on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Sierra, 3680 US Highway 395 South in Carson City.

Meet opposite the new Bob McFadden Plaza at what was 3rd and Curry Street, downtown Carson City. This is our Annual Art Walk which will take about 2 hours. We will visit eight art galleries/venues. For those interested after the walk, we will then have lunch at one of the downtown hot spots.

Come on over and enjoy some ice cream at Gold Canyon Cafe in historical downtown Dayton from 12:00 pm Noon to 4 pm, 160 Main Street, Dayton.

You'll enjoy a generous portion of ice cream and you'll even paint some ice cream.....on canvas!

This event is $25.00 per person, which includes 1 serving of ice cream and all the materials you need to paint your picture. Don't worry. If you don't know how to paint, it's easy and fun and we'll help you out. Please wear something over your clothes to protect your clothing while you paint.

The event It is a fundraiser for the School House, Silver City Arts and the new outdoor venue in the Silver City Park called the Silver Pavilion.

Do you love animals? Do you want to help them? Do you want to have fun doing it? If your answer is yes then we invite you to come and play CASI bingo. CASI is an all volunteer non-profit dedicated to raising money to build and equip the new animal shelter in Carson City.

Doors open at 11:30 AM and the first game starts at 12:30 PM. Buy in is $10 and extra packs are $5. Special games are $1 each. We also have a 50/50 raffle and door prizes too. Street Vibes and the Candy Dance are always the endcap to September. Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. SATURDAY:

The sight of a pair of outhouses barreling down the street with thousands cheering them on in an all-out, old school potty race would probably be considered an odd form of entertainment almost anywhere, but not in Virginia City.

This annual fall tradition on the Comstock, the World Championship Outhouse Races, takes place the first weekend of October and pits teams of three costumed outhouse racers against each other, sprinting down the town’s historic main street, C Street, toward the toilet paper finish line.

Experience the holiday spirit on the Comstock in our historical building filled with beautiful art and artisanal works. Amazing artists and makers will share their work in our festive building, creating a fun and stress free shopping and collecting experience. Come support our local creators and enjoy a unique environment of beauty and fun.

Learn the satisfying and fun crafts of tooling leather and making baskets from lariat ropes. Quiet Woman Cattle Company will teach students how to create amazing baskets combining leather and rope. This workshop is an optional 2 day class. Students will complete a basket on the first day or may continue and learn more sophisticated leather tooling on day 2. Each student will walk away with their own handmade piece regardless of their class duration.

Visit St. Mary's Art Center for a great day in Virginia City. The Fall Exhibition opens Friday, and an Artist Reception will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. View new work by amazing artisans as well as our diverse permanent collection.

Meet new people, visit with the creative makers. Experience pieces collected over decades, including six new additions recently been added to the permanent collection.

Singer, songwriter, humorist and small town philosopher Antsy McClain writes what he knows: The good life.

Antsy McClain brings his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the stage, combining his original songs with a hilarious slide show, including Antsy’s own life observations, social commentary and imaginary sponsors from his home town trailer park of Pine View Heights.

As a master storyteller with the likes of PBS, NPR and TEDTalks under his belt, Antsy includes humorous and serious songs in his shows.

Austin Lounge Lizards and Antsy McClain & the Trailer Park Troubadours Return to Virginia City and Piper's Opera House. Lizards on Friday, October 14 and Antsy on Thursday, October 20. Both shows are at 7:00pm and doors open at 6:30pm.

Come be a vendor or browse the many other vendors at Carson City's only indoor flea market. Held once a month inside the Fuji Park building across from Costco on Old Clear Creek road. It is on Oct.15 from 8-3 and admission is $1 with kids being free. Every month is different with different vendors who have antiques, arts, crafts and lots of misc., you never know what you will find. Always a fun time at the flea market. Sundown is a 1941 American war film directed by Henry Hathaway and starring Gene Tierney and Bruce Cabot. The film's adventure story, set against a World War II backdrop in British East Africa, was well received by critics, earning three Academy Award nominations.

Dayton Valley Days, the Steampunk Ball and Parade in Virginia City, and the Western Heritage Festival at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park are just the tip of the iceberg. A free Western Heritage Festival comes to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 10:00 am.

The festival will include Dutch oven cooking, a heritage quilting presentation, Chautauquas of local historical figures, honky-tonk guitar and jug music, as well as a day filled with children’s crafts and activities.

Come and join us in the fun! October 15, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM weather permitting. As of right now we have a Professional Photographer, Western Gifts, Pain and Face Creams, Face Painting and even Pony Rides. We will be having much more as we get closer. There is no admission charge.

Celebrating all things community and the first responders who keep its residents safe, this weekend marks the 28th Dayton Valley Days celebration.

The annual two-day festival is the largest event of the year and draws thousands of visitors and community members to the historic district. Dayton Valley Days helps raise funds for continued restoration of the historic schoolhouse–turned community center and local nonprofit organizations.

Desert Born Art Project Opens At Dayton Library

Dayton, Nv. The Desert Born Art Project opened on Monday, August 29 at the Dayton Valley Branch Library. Pamela Nesbit and Donna Nelson of Smith Valley, Nv. are two local area artists that have collaborated to create very unique art by combining old objects found on the desert and repurposing the objects into art. Their work will be on display through the month of September and the first couple weeks of October of this year. The exhibit is free at the Dayton Valley Branch Library.

Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City on Friday welcomes The Delbert Anderson Trio (DAT) and Def-i known for their fused genres to create an unforgettable sound.

DAT's music is inspired by ancient Native American melodies fused with jazz/funk. Def-i blends complex poetry with hip hop styles. DAT & DEF-i bring you unique sounds of the Southwest shot through jazz, jam, funk and hip hop while inspired by their individual cultures music.

Sassafras is located at 1500 Old Hot Springs Rd, Carson City. The concert starts at 730 p.m. See the video below.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "High School Pic[ks] 1", at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Sixteen high school student artists from Carson, Dayton, and Douglas high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:30-7pm at the Brick. The free exhibition is available to the public from September 1 - November 29, 2016.

Carson City's SlotWorld Casino is hosting a free Show-N-Shine car show on September 24th, 2016 in the SlotWorld parking lot. Event starts at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with registration for entrants starting at 9 a.m. and going until 11 a.m.

In honor of Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month, Western Nevada Colleges is honored to present dynamic spoken word poet, Gabriela Garcia Medina on Monday, Sept. 19. Beginning at 6 p.m. in the Carson Nugget Hall in the Aspen Building, this event is free to students with a WNC ID and $3 without.
