This is our Annual Art Walk which will take about 2 hours. We will visit eight art galleries/venues. For those interested after the walk, we will then have lunch at one of the downtown hot spots.

CASI Bingo

If your answer is yes then we invite you to come and play CASI bingo. CASI is an all volunteer non-profit dedicated to raising money to build and equip the new animal shelter in Carson City.
Doors open at 11:30 AM and the first game starts at 12:30 PM. Buy in is $10 and extra packs are $5. Special games are $1 each. We also have a 50/50 raffle and door prizes too. No need to worry about lunch we offer hot dogs at our snack bar and sometimes the wonderful volunteers will bring a yummy homemade soup.

Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. All the other corners of Northern Nevada are a playground for the thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts here to enjoy the bike rally. Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. Keep reading for more fun than you’ll know what to do with.

Virginia City to hit the john running Oct. 1-2 at Championship Outhouse Race and Undie Relay
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 09/23/2016 - 1:36pmThe sight of a pair of outhouses barreling down the street with thousands cheering them on in an all-out, old school potty race would probably be considered an odd form of entertainment almost anywhere, but not in Virginia City.
This annual fall tradition on the Comstock, the World Championship Outhouse Races, takes place the first weekend of October and pits teams of three costumed outhouse racers against each other, sprinting down the town’s historic main street, C Street, toward the toilet paper finish line.

Quiet Woman Cattle Company Workshop at St. Mary's Art Center

Quiet Woman Cattle Company will teach students how to create amazing baskets combining leather and rope. This workshop is an optional 2 day class. Students will complete a basket on the first day or may continue and learn more sophisticated leather tooling on day 2. Each student will walk away with their own handmade piece regardless of their class duration.

Antsy McClain brings his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the stage, combining his original songs with a hilarious slide show, including Antsy’s own life observations, social commentary and imaginary sponsors from his home town trailer park of Pine View Heights.
As a master storyteller with the likes of PBS, NPR and TEDTalks under his belt, Antsy includes humorous and serious songs in his shows.

The festival will include Dutch oven cooking, a heritage quilting presentation, Chautauquas of local historical figures, honky-tonk guitar and jug music, as well as a day filled with children’s crafts and activities.

Dayton Valley Days 2016 this weekend features festival of parades, music, food and more

The annual two-day festival is the largest event of the year and draws thousands of visitors and community members to the historic district. Dayton Valley Days helps raise funds for continued restoration of the historic schoolhouse–turned community center and local nonprofit organizations.
Desert Born Art Project on Display at Dayton Valley Library

Dayton, Nv. The Desert Born Art Project opened on Monday, August 29 at the Dayton Valley Branch Library. Pamela Nesbit and Donna Nelson of Smith Valley, Nv. are two local area artists that have collaborated to create very unique art by combining old objects found on the desert and repurposing the objects into art. Their work will be on display through the month of September and the first couple weeks of October of this year. The exhibit is free at the Dayton Valley Branch Library.

DAT's music is inspired by ancient Native American melodies fused with jazz/funk. Def-i blends complex poetry with hip hop styles. DAT & DEF-i bring you unique sounds of the Southwest shot through jazz, jam, funk and hip hop while inspired by their individual cultures music.

CCAI High School Pic[ks] 1 exhibition

Sixteen high school student artists from Carson, Dayton, and Douglas high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:30-7pm at the Brick. The free exhibition is available to the public from September 1 - November 29, 2016.
