Jan relishes the combination of creating an object of art with Nature's own invention: gourds. she looks for the spirit of the gourd, then enhances it with carving, dyeing, and wood burning, putting her orginality into the gourd. Each gourd is an original and signed by Jan.
Join us for an evening of beautiful art, while enjoying a complimentary glass of wine and light appetizers.

A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Rummage and book sales, live music, a fun run and a half-marathon, comedy and so much more await you. Check out the list for all the ways to embrace the sunshine.

This Show will take place in our college gallery, atrium gallery, and the hallway gallery. The exhibition will be held from April 24 until May 12 from 8 am to 9 pm Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 5pm Saturday. The reception will be in the Main Gallery on the WNC Carson Campus on April 27 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Silver City Arts Group Offers Free Public Events

The group draws on the community's own rich resource of artists, artisans and musicians, and also connects with regional and statewide groups to bring programming by national and international artists and musicians. “The ideas passed down through tribal culture, I think a lot of people might dismiss as primitive,” he said. “But in my experience there’s a lot of knowledge that’s useful today. The spirit of my work can apply to anybody.”

Earth Day is a time to learn about environmental and climate issues, sustainable best practices, recycling, and more.
WNC has planned a number of Earth Day events, including the showing of a Leonardo DiCaprio film on climate change, as well as several environment speakers and information booths. The public is invited to celebrate the following Earth Day events at WNC at no charge.

The train will depart the depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. arrive in Virginia City about 11:15 a.m. you will then be shuttled up to the opera house, lunch is from noon to 1 p.m. and the concert will start at 1:30 p.m., you will then be shuttled back to the train depot for the ride back to Carson City.

We are raising money for the Esperanza Foundation to help Vets with healing and for the Littlest Things that do Kindness events with animals and more for the community.
