Unscripted comedy, every first Friday, 7pm, in the Brewery Arts Centers’ Maize Harris Jesse theater, as Mikey Wiencek hosts IMPROV AT THE BAC featuring the BAC Blowhards. Admission is free but donations are gladly accepted.

Silver City, Nevada - The Silver City Post Office, established in 1860, has a display case with changing collections that highlight local history as well as current programs.

Display of Work by Visiting Artists: For those who missed a December 2016 show featuring the artwork, essays, poems, assemblages, and photographs created by visiting artists at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City, some of the pieces are on display at the Silver City Post Office through March.

The Brewery Arts Center is proud to showcase the photography of Carson City High School Senior Amber Reeves. Amber took a different approach when deciding on her senior project.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra will present an eclectic array of music and announce the 2017 Scholarship winners at their Annual Spring Concert on April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley CIVC Hall.

CARSON CITY, Nevada – Las Vegas artist Christopher Tsouras, a grandson of Greek immigrants, has a longtime fascination with pre-classical Greek mythology.

That fascination, along with his deep interest in modern astronomy, are at the heart of Tsouras’ photography and mixed media exhibit that goes on display at the Nevada Arts Council’s LXS Gallery beginning Monday, Feb. 27.

The Nevada Artists Association is exhibiting it's annual Winter Show, now through March 31. Open 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Sunday. All art is for sale. Admission is free.

“The sun will come out tomorrow!” Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents the musical “Annie, Jr.” weekends March 10th and 17th at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.

Based on the Broadway favorite and well-known comic strip, “Annie, Jr.” recounts the adventures of a spunky Depression era orphan (Annie) determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage, run by the sinister Miss Hannifin.

Award-winning and published Carson City artist Kathleen Osborne Flanagan will kick off the first monthly Artist Reception and Exhibition at Carson City Art Gallery, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2.

The Mile High Jazz Band Association will hold a two-part jazz workshop/masterclass on Tuesday, February 28, at Carson Middle School, 1140 W. King Street. The afternoon session, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., is for student jazz musicians. The evening session, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., is for advanced through professional level musicians.

This month's film will be held in the ballroom, upstairs from the Black Box Theatre at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street in Carson City.

Nevada County Arts Council presents the inaugural Sierra Poetry Festival bringing together an array of local, national and international poets and performers to kick off National Poetry Month on April 1, 2017. With a keynote address by California's Poet Laureate Dana Gioia, the day will be filled with readings, open mics, workshops, discussions, parties and youth voices.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for clear skies, but there are rumors of snow flurries. Luckily there are indoor and outdoor activities, no matter what blows our way. Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City will present the 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Festival, featuring 18 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in the capital city, Aug. 4-21.

The play on words are endless for Virginia City’s 26th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, taking place March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the heart of the historic mining town. The “oysters” consumed at this festival are the land variety, meaning bull or sheep testicles.

Artwork by Sophie Scott of New Zealand will be on display at the Nevada State Legislative Building in Carson City during the 2017 Legislative session. Look for it on the third floor near Ways and Means. Sophie’s painting, based on an 1860s photograph of Silver City, was created while she was a resident artist in Silver City in 2015.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975 will bring to Carson City Winter Wine, Spirits and All That Jazz, an evening of wine, beer and spirit tasting, featuring the very best in art, music and entertainment.

Under the direction of Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band will perform its annual “A Salute to Young Musicians” concert with two choirs from Carson City, Fritsch Elementary School with Nicole Melsheimer, Conductor and Mark Twain Elementary School with Christina Bourne, Conductor, and the Carson High School Clarinet Choir.

Fingers crossed, we’ve got a few days without the wet stuff. This winter seems like the song that never ends. We received late word that Saturday's monthly Trash Mob has been canceled. The good news is there's a day-long music fest at the Carson Colony Gym on South Curry is fundraising for the DAPL Water Protectors. Music, art, cinema, comedy and more are on tap for this weekend. Originally from Boston, Rick was a recurring sketch performer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and a finalist in the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition.

Have fun sculpting in clay Mondays 1:00 - 4:00, Mar 6 - Apr 10 at the BAC 449 W King St. in Carson City. This new class is designed for beginning and more experienced students. You will learn techniques in clay sculpting while you learn about basic tools, glazes and studio equipment. Projects will include instruction in a range of sculpting as you create three dimensional ceramic art.

Students will need to bring a towel.

A supply fee of $20 will be collected by instructor at the first class. Tuition $165 non members/$150 members.
