Laughing through class: Nine comedy students take stage recently after 5-week workshop
Under the tutelage of Northern Nevada funny woman Kat Simmons, nine brave students took the stage recently at the Carson Comedy Club in the Carson Nugget. The students spent five weeks developing a five minute routine they performed on the final night of their workshop.
"You are the writer, producer, director and star of your time on stage," Simmons told her students as they climbed up on stage for their individual April 5 performances.
Kat encourages students to write from their authentic voices and be totally original. Many of these students have never been on a microphone before. She not only teaches stand up comedy, but also getting through the fear of public speaking.
She has been teaching her stand up comedy workshop for 20 years, and if you want more info on the class this summer/fall call 775-721-8864.
