TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra continues 12th SUMMER MUSICFEST with TOCCATA BOPS Patriotic Celebration July 1-7
Building on its June “Mozart in the Mountains” Summer MusicFest kickoff series, TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra will continue its 21-concert Summer MusicFest with TOCCATA BOPS, featuring Best of Broadway, Opera hits, Pops and Patriotic selections. Join us at Corpus Christi Church, Wednesday, July 5 at 7:00pm in Carson City (3597 N. Sunridge Dr.).
The concert opens with a rousing armed forces medley for orchestra and chorus and Coplands’s equally rousing hit from Rodeo, HOE DOWN. Brad Perry, tenor, will perform several selections from West Side Story, while sopranos Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, and Anne Davidson will delight the audience with operatic arias and popular songs.
The concert continues with hits for the SummerFest chorus: Amazing Grace; Going Home theme from Dvorak’s 9th Symphony, and Battle Hymn of the Republic. The concert concludes with Sousa’s Stars and Stripes, a new arrangement of God Bless America, Tchaikovsky’s brilliant 1812 Overture, and an audience singalong of America the Beautiful, featuring the newly formed North Lake Tahoe Children’s Chorus.
Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.org. General admission is $30 adults and $25 for seniors. Youth/students under age 24 are $5 for and under 18 enter free. Preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.
